In this video I interview Matthew Hussey, whom I am so familiar with and such a fan of that I forgot to properly introduce him
(* Matthew Hussey is a New York Times bestselling author, speaker, and
coach specializing in confidence and relational intelligence. His
KZfaq channel is number one in the world for love life advice, with
over half a billion views. He writes a weekly newsletter and is the host
of the podcast Love Life With Matthew Hussey. Hussey provides
monthly coaching to the members of his private community at
LoveLifeClub.com. Over the past fifteen years, his proven approach has
inspired millions through authentic, insightful, and practical advice that
not only enables them to find love but also feel confident and in control
of their own happiness. He lives in Los Angeles.)
In this video Matthew talks about his new book Love Life and why it took him about a decade to put out another book after his last bestseller Get the Guy. He also talks about how to really set standards, a new way of defining self love, the power of choosing your regrets and what he had to change in order to be marriage material.

I’ve been following Matthew for ever and I will say this is one of the rawest conversations he’s had. I fell more in love with the two of you after this. Shan you really received the message and gave such great follow up questions and reactions and responses. Just a great duo.

To be honest, most women I've met ... their standards haven't been around superficial things, but character-related and behaviour-related things e.g. kindness, consistency, honesty, open-mindedness etc. But hey ho, we all have different social circles. However, let's just admit that many men are still not held accountable for their behaviours. Somehow the accusing finger still ends up pointing to the women, "Oh pick better", "Oh love yourself", "Oh he's just not that into YOU" etc ... which are great and valid. But how about we start telling these men to do better?! Criticize men's bad behaviour for once instead of putting all the onus on the woman. This is the example of the emotional labour we see (and expect) women carry in relationships.

Telling men to change their behaviour means nothing if there aren't any consequences for them. Men are market driven and will adjust their behaviour when there are consequences for doing so.

I am just thinking...how someone who admits was a confused and terrible person to date could build his career and sell his tickets for thousands of dollars on giving workshops on the subject of relationships? What was his knowledge based on? To use the parallel - would anyone open their account with a banker who admits they were very bad with money for most of their life...?

Great content, as always ✨ Matthew can be a controversial guy but I really felt the self love message from him. Having said that, the format felt super cold and distant and in some instances where the camera was only on him, looked like he was giving a public statement and I missed seeing your face reacting to what he was saying

The reality is as to why one would choose a physiologically attractive person is because of the foundational assertion that the person either has time, resources, or skill set/critical awareness for self regulation ie be attractive. It's a lighter mental load (well supposed to be) for a potential partner given the difficult intricacies of social behaviour. and then additionally for gardening future generations if you procreate with someone with a lack of those self sufficient requirements oy puts a strain on the trajectory of a local society who now has to make up for what the others lack which makes the line of quality fall behind. Not to mention the dating pool of future generations who now have to pick through what was created based upon a union that did not facilitate an understanding of the standards for a future outside of themselves; because you can have a baby doesn't mean you should just because you can make a relationship happen doesn't mean you should it really is not for everybody. Truly selfish relationships make for gritty opportunities for the next generation. Be attractive inside AND out, it's better for the global healthcare system, it's better for individualism and society as a whole. The hunchback of Notre Dame does not need to have a child just because he can.
