The stealth 100 was the first amp I found that truly made me able to retire my block letter 5150. I haven't used the peavey to jam or track guitars ever since I bought the 100w stealth, it's just a back up now. The blue channel pushed with a boost is the high gain tone I was chasing out of my 5150 for years. They're very similar sounding, but I prefer the more tamed upper mids(less honk or cocked wah) of the stealth and the stealth is just tighter and has more string separation under high gain that I love, like really rich harmonically. It's just an outright incredible amp for modern high gain tones.

Biggest regret is not getting that snofall while I had the chance, such a beautiful guitar, killer amp too, been a fan since embers \m/ you guys are why I'm a guitarist 15+ years.

I have the 50 watt versions of the EL34 and 6L6. I may need to add this one too. Does seem voiced a bit different. I have to boost channel two on the other versions in order to get what I like but maybe this one might change that. Very interesting. Great video! \m/

I absolutely love that you are doing gear reviews. You should try the new Soldano SLO 30 and the Friedman BE100 Deluxe. Maybe the Friedman isn't heavy enough for Trivium's music, but it's still an amazing hot rodded Plexi dream that feels super good under the fingers.

Hey Matt! How do you find the clean sound on it? I bought the non stealth 50w version because my understanding was these wouldn't get the most crystal clear clean tone, more a pushed clean. Thoughts? Sounds heavy as shit!

Matt, dude, this tone is massive!!! I have the EL34 tube version and love it...all of their amps sound amazing. And yeah, the blue channel sounds great with an overdrive in front for that classic tone but the red channel needs nothing! It's just pure brutal!

I'm curious how a 7-string would sound through it. They both sound fantastic, but the stealth has, as you said, has an excellent mid-range to it.

While I haven't tried the stealth, I have tried the regular 5150 III and the EL34 version. Both sounded good, just not for me. I do prefer the 50W version better of the regular 5150 III. But, I will also say the EVH 5150 III > Peavey 5150. So much easier to dial in, and doesn't need anything in front of it to get a good tone

There is a reason why it hard to find 100 watt 5153s used. I have the original 100w version. In the room, it sounds fantastic.

Imo, i still prefer the peavey built 5150 style amps. Relative to the evh builds, they are less compressed, more open and less plastic sounding in the upper mids. With this said, I can certainly respect how many many also prefer the 5153.... Cheers for your demo.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the stealth version and the regular EVH III? Just picked up an ivory EVH III from a local shop the other day and I'm curious how it's different from this one

The ONE downside to the footprint of these 50w EVHs is that the resonance is on the back of the head. If you are running any sort of the drop tuning you WILL need to A/B that setting along with the bass setting to get it dialed in.

I had one for a year. The red channel was unusable, even without a boost. The blue channel boosted was phenomenal. The green channel was only clean with the gain below 2, which I found kinda strange. I stupidly traded it for a VHT Pittbull last December and regretted it. I sold that, and now I have a Peavey Invective that I absolutely love. Now to find a Mesa Boogie Mark series to pair with it.

The EVH Stealth sounds fucking amazing but the 5150 is incredible, I think the 5150 sounds "better"

Try the NS-2 using it in front and the fx loop. Any thing in front to the input. NS-2 send to amp input, amp send to NS-2 return. Amp return gets the NS-2 output. No hiss. I use a Para EQ at the loop and Two Notes Torpedo Captor 8 direct out drive stereo fx and amps. This method made my Mesa Nomad100 quiet.
