That's super awesome you do this at your house I really wish I could get a better understanding I'm not sure what I'm missing but I'm doing something right I wish I could just come spend a day with someone like you to better understand and be able to leave my lights alone LOL

We're always happy to help answer questions here, but what you might find even more valuable it to see if there is a local reefing club in your area. There are a ton of incredibly talented aquarists around the country and I'm sure that you have at least one or two of them nearby that would be willing to help by being a mentor.

Love Waterbox tanks. I agree with the expensive cabinets. Too expensive for there appearance. At least wb now has aluminum stands

Waterbox builds beautiful systems. I don't think many of us questioned why you decided to buy one. They are near turn key, and well thought out. For those that don't want to spend countless hours researching and planning a system, Buying a waterbox is a good purchase. They're also great for new hobbyist's who many not have many preference or have knowledge about equipment. I can't fault anyone who buys one. The only real limitation is one that is self-imposed by the company: A consumer who loves their tanks, can't buy waterbox tank stand-alone; nor can anyone buy a system piece-meal. So, it is automatically a poor choice for individuals who are either forced to budge a system; or for those who enjoy building DIY set-ups. I'm personally a bit disappointed and resentful they went this route. I'd buy a 6 foot water box tomorrow for my next build. But I want it on a custom stand, and plumbed into an existing sump I've been working with. So the sunk cost is ridiculous. I'd eat the cost of their stand, plumbing, and sump; just to have the tank. That's not a good choice to make. And again, it's due to how waterbox built their current business model. They chose to focus exclusively on complete systems, which again are beautiful and worth the purchase (if you want or need the whole system). But they also purposely chose to exclude the segment of the market which does not need, or cannot afford the entire system at the onset. Because of this business structure; what makes them a phenomenal choice for one segment of the market, also makes them a very bad choice for another segment. And their is nothing wrong with being in either segment of the market. But it's a beautiful tank. I think all of us would be happy to see that sitting in our living room. It's gorgeous, good choice

How you "feed " nitrat, phosphat to the frags ? I mean if its a fishless tank ( adding Np /po3 ? Or Just coral food ??)

Question, so I’m thinking of starting one but I’m not looking to spend all this money of equipment like you did, would it be possible to just do water changes instead of dosing or?

You mention soaking plates overnight in saltwater and Dr Tims....Is that just to get a good amount of bacteria soaked in or does that cycle the media fast? I use it in koi ponds and within a week or two its cycled, but curious on the SW/Reef bio cycle.

You are exactly right. This is just anecdotal of course, but some of us in the hobby think that giving the bacteria time to settle may help it to colonize, thus giving a quicker and more robust cycle.

@@BRStv but would you add ammonia or an ammonia source to assist? aeration? Thinking of starting a WB20 Cube at my desk and if I can cycle spheres for a week in a bucket, might be a great start.

This makes me a little concerned about buying Waterbox aquariums to be honest. Ikea flavored furniture does not inspire confidence in its ability to hold several hundred pounds of water and the ease at which it scratches points to really cheap finishes. The tanks themselves are beautiful, but the stand is scary.

You'd be surprised at how strong they are once put together. The stand is built from solid plywood.
