I know this video is about 6 months but Jose De Sousa has proved the transition from soft to steel is possible :). There are tons of different games in soft tip including double out and separate bull, so not all soft tip games score the entire bull as 50. I’ve just bought a gran board 3 after always playing steel tip and I have to say I’m really loving it. The online play and more relaxed feel is just loads of fun.

Some small corrections. In Germany and Austria we do not play this kind of Board in Leagues and Tournaments. The Softtip Board has only 2 holes in the Double and Triplering in height and not 5 and the Bull is seperated in Bull (50 Points) and Halfbull (25 Points). This shown kind of Board is a so called "Bullshooterboard". It is mostly used in Asia and US. We also have Leagues with Double Out, Open Out, Double in - Double out and Master Out. 501 or 301. So this is not a rule for Softtip that you have to check out with Triples. This depends on the Ranking of the League.

Soft tip does nothing for me personally. I find all this Nexus stuff incredibly boring. I just think it's far too easy to play. However, if people enjoy playing it then keep playing. I see Americans on English dart forums and they say they're embarrassed that they play soft tip, which is sad. I hate when people put other people down. Just because it's not for me doing mean it's not for someone else.

I wouldn't say steel tip darts are "new" here in the States. We basically see soft tip darts as a substitute, to make things safer (for kids and drunk people), and to prevent damage to the wall from errant darts. Steel tip is still seen as "real darts". And the "doesn't have to stick" rule change is because bounce outs are so much more common. Some soft tip boards over here have the same rule set as steel darts (25/50, double out) and others have options to enable or disable things like the 25 and master out. Even the $15 board in my room (which is what, ten quid?) supports that.

The Bull and the 25 scores the same as on the steel tip board in many competitions on soft tip, in some competitions the whole Bull area counts as 50 but only under certain rules. You can also go out on a treble as you say (master out) when playing under certain rules but not all the time. There are plenty of soft tip contests that employ exactly the same rule as steel tip does (it is versatile). Mensur Sulovic for example was a prolific world class soft tip player before becoming one of the top Steel tip players in the world, so was the female player Mikuru Suzuki from Japan who destroyed the best of our Western female players at steel tip at her first attempt away from her home in Japan on the steel tip board in the UK and then defended her title this year. Darts is darts, There is also a European Soft tip board and the segments on that one are smaller than the steel tip boards, the USA style soft tip board is the one we see used most in the world championship etc and the segments may be bigger on that board than are on the steel tip board but we must remember that they are bigger for every player so no advantage for anyone. Soft tip darts also stick in the board parallel and many steel tip throwers darts would bounce out all the time unless they altered their set ups or flattened out the way the darts hit the board some other way. Soft tip gets people into the game and is bigger than steel tip in many countries, there are plenty of soft tip players that can give steel tip players a run for their money in Both disciplines. Soft tip is more versatile as players can easily play against each other via the internet too all over the world. I personally play both formats and enjoy both.

Few comments I started playing steel but now I play soft because I have too drive two hours one way too play steel. Now on too the comments the bullseye can be split just like a steel tip board depending on how you want too set it up. Two we like to play cricket here, which you guys play too ,but under another name , when we play cricket the bull is split. Three, the big difference ,in a tournment depending on who is running the tourny sometimes the board is always right. Other wise you can hit a trip twenty and dart is clearly in the trip, but for whatever reason the board counts the dart as a trip one ,you get three instead of sixty. I know ,messed up ,we here in our local tournys don't do that , anyway thats about it enjoyed the video.

It might be worth mentioning the existence of "conversion tips". Soft tip darts have removable tips, because they get damaged so easily. The tip usually uses the same thread as the stem, and the tips are sold en masse. But conversion tips exist, which are steel tips that screw into the same thread and allow you to use your soft tip darts in a sisal board. I keep a set in my darts case so I'm prepared if I end up somewhere with only sisal boards. (And yes, soft tip darts are supposed to be under 20g because the boards can't handle the excess weight. I think the local league has a limit of 18g.)

I recently got 12 Blade 5DC and checked on 3 for this. Okay on 2 :P On "our" european soft tip boards, the doubles are actually about 9,1mm. With that in mind, which board would E-TV Subscribers recommend?
@joemoss77344 жыл бұрын
yes, the DartsLive boards and Granboards have replaceable segments for the entire board. If you want to get into softitp at home, I highly recommend the DartsLive comfort board. It has the same durability and quality of the Dartlive 200s, except it doesn't have any electronics. b/c of that, they have added extra padding and noise dampening material in the board to make it as quiet if not quieter than a sisal board.

I have played soft tip league for many years and although the bull can count as 50 you can set the option for 25/50 on any decent board. Also, regarding the “bounce out” scoring, that also can be an option as well. With soft tip the “01” game is not in my opinion the essence of the board. For me and most of my circle of players the game of skill and choice is by far cricket. With cricket the bull is 25/50 and it by far better suited if the soft tip. My love for darts has no favorites I prefer steel and soft tip the same, just depends on what game I want to play. Thanks again!

your ignorance is hilarious!!! I would love to see you try to compete in softip leagues. the segments are bigger for both players. at any good level, one missed dart and you lose the leg. in hard darts one bad visit and you are still in the leg. and if you watched the BDO World Championships the last two years, a softtip player, Mikuru Suzuki, won it... back to back in the ladies division. Mensur and Paul Lim were also soft tip players. Seigo Asada has made some good runs in the PDC and Japan faired well in the world cup last year. until you have played and seen how the darts fly differently and youre restricted with certain designs bc of the screw in point, you really can't appreciate it i guess. stacking is a lot more difficult and requires more skill to throw around flights. and cricket, hated by most people who think sisal is the only proper board, is a much better strategy game and skill game than 01. 01 you play the board and chuck away at the same two segments until the last visit or so. cricket you throw at all the big number segments and have to switch based on what your opponent does. also, Dartslive league does play master out and 50/50 bull.
