Actually the inverted pentacle (single point down) means banishing energy so it is used to get rid of bad things while the normal pentacle (single point upward) is for attracting energy and is used to bring in good energies.

Satanist usually use the inverted pentagram with a goat head in the center. The horns are in the 2 points on top. Usually instead of one circle around the 5 pointed star, it's two. Regular pentagram is used as a Christian symbol as well as Wicca and things like that. But who knows nowadays
