Well this is it. Just buy it. It's noticeably better and easier to apply than Beadmaker.
As I made improvements to my car drying process, I began to realize with some of the other drying aid solutions, unless the conditions were close to perfect, I would experience spotting. This isn’t something that’s insurmountable, but certainly not ideal.
Now, fast-forward to the Obsessed Garage Drying Aid that was brought to my attention from someone in our community and I’m glad it was. What I love most about this product is the slickness of it as well as the gloss it leaves on the paint. You’ll see a deep shine with no by-products left behind. It'll work on wax, coatings, trim, and glass - it pretty much works on anything. This is ideal for me because I want to use it on as many surfaces as possible.

I've been lurking the channel for the past few months, trying to prep myself for taking care of my first "nice" car. For someone brand new to detailing and having a halfway decent car, I'm really glad you put your detail process in this video, even if you've shown it a million times. Love all the content and your way of doing things.

Hello Matt, subscriber from UK here. Your content is excellent, full of practical advice and passion. Your process makes so much sense, especially the removal of bugs deposits during the drying stage - less is more and don't overthink it. The fact that you are not constantly layering your clear coat with multiple products is another reason why your cars always look stunning. Great work, all the best.

This stuff is pretty good. Did not want to believe it sitting on a bottle through 2 washes. Finally used today after a n-914 RW. Super slick .. compared to BM the slickness is instant. Seems BM take time to cure before the slickness comes on. This makes the user experience much better.

The best addition to my wash process has to be adding a drying aid. It was hard for a noob like me to understand when I first started like why would spraying something on my car help me dry it. Well obviously it's not to help you dry the car it's to help minimize scratches and marring. It's lubrication for your drying towel. Hard concept for a beginner to understand but as soon as I grasped it I never went back lol now 3 years into my love for detailing it's still my favorite part about washing my car

Definitely haven’t got a vinegar scent that would probably be a deal breaker for me lol, just smells like other Sio2 sprays like C2v3 and some other ceramic detailers. In my opinion they’re all pretty similar if they’re from a high quality brand but this is pretty damn good. Just did a fresh polish and coat of Csl and exo on my e46 and used this after the first wash and man was it nice. I’m curious about diluting it, I like diluting C2v3 1to1 sometimes even more seems to work a little easier as a drying aid and if this dilutes as good as C2v3 then it’ll be an even better value than it already is.

GREAT VIDEO ON SHOWING APPLICATION OF PRODUCT. Most product videos are incomplete in that they showing you applying product to paint but not other surfaces like glass and plastic. Been looking for a product I could use on whole car. I have a RAV4 which is half metal and half plastic. I have called other manufactures like Meguriers and they say their products wont harm other surfaces but are not made for them. That leaves me with 1/2 an answer and looking for for other products.

Matt thanks for the video, have a question, when doing maintenance washes on a ceramic coat, should any drying aid be used? One with ‘ceramic’ in it, or just a simple lubricating one like OG/diluted rinseless washes. I am wondering because, if I use a drying aid, will it affect the maintenance or topper that I will subsequently put on top, such as cure, cosmic spritz etc? Thanks again

The beading with BM is amazing and last much longer than a couple weeks. My daily driver sits outside all the time and gets washed every couple weeks if not once a month. It couldn't be easier to use and I haven't seen 1 reason to not use it. Not sure why all of a sudden BM is supposedly a terrible product to all these guys. Matt talks about it flashing and needing to be wiped multiple times to remove yet he uses 2 towels to remove his drying aid. I'm sure there's no money to be made selling a $20 gallon product.

Forgive my ignorance, but do you have high pressure demineralised water available? If so, I'm wondering whether simply pressure-rinsing, and then drying very gently without the drying aid, might be a bit quicker. Maybe some areas wouldn't need to be dried at all. You'd forgo the short lived sacrificial layer though. I wonder whether it would be possible to create a drying aid that, if left to dry on the surface, completely evaporated, leaving nothing at all? I have heard of "vanishing oils" - oils that evaporate completely. I think that's the kind of product I'd be more interested in.

Great video demonstration. London, UK calling. I really like the look of your product and the poetry in motion of the application to that gorgeous car. I am enjoying my amateur detailing and pampering of my new Red/White Model Y LR ( if I had a garage, it would be obsessed) she has front end PPF ( not something you are fond of) to and including the endless "A" pillar and Crystal Serum finished with EXOv4 to the rest of her. So, two questions please. 1) Is OG safe for use on the PPF? You use it over ceramic so no problem there. 2) Is there any chance of getting it to/at London without the humongous shipping cost from the USA? Sadly, as with many interesting N. American products, OG is not available here. Understandable, I guess, with the size of your home market. Anyway, excellent work, All the best.

I feel like the industry is missing something here and I think there seems to be cross confusion with drying aids and QDs. Drying Aid should be used as a surface lubricant during the drying process. Removing water within your towel. Essentially spraying this on the car while it’s wet… This should help the towel to glide across the surface and absorb water… that would be the whole point of a drying aid. A QD would be what you would want to use after your car is dry to provide lubrication and gloss as a sacrificial layer to whatever is already on the panel. I have yet to see anyone properly lubricate the panel while it’s wet and use proper drying methods with a towel first to remove water. I think the key here is to develop a product that you can spray on the car while it’s wet and wipe and walk away and leave a perfect 100% dry non-streak finish. That’s the dream!
@progression_decibel
@progression_decibel 7 ай бұрын
I could be wrong, that's what GYEON Wet Coat does (I use it). You spray it on while the car [panel] is completely wet and then rinse it off. Dry off you car [panel] as usual. It leaves behind a slick, hydrophobic sacrificial layer that lasts weeks. The only thing it does not do is get rid of heavy water spots like on windows.

@WaxMode
@WaxMode 2 жыл бұрын
In many cases, blow-drying forces soap out of the crevices that will eventually need to be towel wiped. Also depending on how healthy the base coating is, the air blower is often not enough to 100% eject all of the water off the surface. And if you're washing in any environment that's not enclosed or out of the sun and doing so with hard water, this can lead to partially dried spotting/soap residue that needs to be addressed by wiping. Any time you're dealing with contamination like this, it's beneficial to have that lubricated aid to help clean these areas up after the wash, and the additional benefit is you help maintain the healthiness of the base coating at the same time, prolonging slickness and gloss.

@ObsessedGarage 2 жыл бұрын
Adam sold the company. I don't know, but I'd assume he has a certain number of contractural years of which he would stay involved.

It's a quick detailer. Spray wax. Etc. Where did "drying aid" come from?

Designed as a topper for your coating/wax/sealants but can also be used as a drying aid.

It's not a detailer because it doesn't contain surfactants. There's no cleaning ability. Lube and topper only.

P.S. How wet can the car be when apply OG Drying Aid: I don't use an air blower just top end towels both super thick and thin for second pass.
@ObsessedGarage

It can be fully wet. You'd just want to use more product since the additional water would dilute the product.

What's better about this than d156?
@MikeGDetailing
@MikeGDetailing 2 жыл бұрын
The difference is D156 is a polymer spray wax with a hint of carnauba where as this is SiO2 based. D156 is great and I used that back in the day wen I was using waxes and sealants. Moved to coatings and ceramic infused spray sealants designed for coatings.

@@MikeGDetailing I don't have experience with ceramics (not because I'm old school, but because I'm a young kid who hasn't spent much money on detailing). So I'd assume d156 would not finish as well on a ceramic coating?
