Testing Out The Original CarCapsule

Today in the OGHQ Test Lab today we have an Original CarCapsule, It differs from the CarCapsule Showcase in that you can't just drive into it. All In all it's pretty cool but I don't think this is going to work for those of us that keep there cars dialed in.

I can't believe I just watched Matt drag a heavy plastic sheet across his car. Think the showcase is definitely the one.

A couple recommendations from experience: 1. Inflate the bubble once before pulling the car in. It "Loosens" it up a bit. 2. Use an indoor type car cover on the car while in the capsule. Makes it much safer and easier to pull the plastic over. And the wrinkles never come out. 2 years in and still looks the same.

I totally agree. It was a waste of my time to watch him struggle to separate the stuck “layers”. This is a terrible demonstration of a good product. He’s giving a bad review based on his own lack of thought. There will be static involved because of the plastic material. The static gets worse as he pulls the wrinkles out and it then “sticks” to the car. If he’d just inflated it empty and left it for a day or so, the static disperses and wrinkles are removed. He even acknowledged the static issue.

I would design a C - shaped thin bar that I can put over the middle of the car and then rest and pull the bubble over.

I know I ‘’m late to this party, but if rolling the capsule over your clean car scratches the paint, your beef is with BMW, not with the design of the capsule. Soft paint? I’ve been using this capsule model for years on show-quality Corvettes, withour so much as a hairline scratch.

PPF + car cover + CarCapsule = no issues with scratching. PPF does NOT scratch - not from putting a cover on/off anyway. I have been putting my AMG away dirty, covered, for over 2 years. PFF is perfect. Any minor scratches disappear in the sun.

Looks like a good solution for those that don’t have a good inside storage location for winter storage. But like you definitely needs a cover prior to storing.

Not exactly OG spec, but for people looking for the protection and willing to modify this a little you could whip up a little PVC rectangular prism structure in there after the first inflation and then it would keep it off the car when you bring the car in and out.

Definitely a neat concept, but as you said it's probably not the right choice for many of us types who really like to keep our stuff dialed in.

Next time you want to do a demonstration video, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. 1. They tell you b to use a car cover to slide the capsule over, then remove it. #2 They also say in the instructions to leave your windows down, at least halfway. The product does what the manufacturer says it will and its well made.

They are a great company. This less expensive version of the bubble doesn't work for us detailer types without a car cover, but for many long term car storage needs, this is a much smaller footprint and a lot less expensive than a Showcase.

Dampness, water damage is brutal on a car, this will keep it out and keep the car from adverse weather conditions if you live in an area were that's an issue.

Yes PAINFUL to watch - All 2 of his videos I watched are painful. This guy does not THINK! Use your head a little. He makes everything harder than it is. Walking around whining while he is wasting OUR time doing dumb things. He seems to have a knack for make things more difficult than they really are. 36 min I won't get back.

I make every video with the assumption that someone that was going to buy something like this would want to see every detail. I don' make them to dumb things down for those that need or want things simplified. When I'm interested in a product of process, I want to know everything about it.
