I think the CGI, but also spending time with the actors beforehand. When you do that, it makes you realize "Oh! This person is really nice! They're just that lady dressed scary!"

The only jumpscare was her real mom grabbing her from the behind when she was ready to go downstairs. Other than that all scenes were expected. Also which kid wouldn't scream if someone grabbed them from behind while knowing that she and her mom are the only 2 people in the home? I watched it on full screen too
