Dear All, I know many of you are anxiously anticipating Part 2 of MINER’S MOUNTAIN! For that, we are very grateful. Please know, this film has been funded independent of any rich uncles, Hollywood monies, trust funds or anything of the like. MINER’S MOUNTAIN is truly an independent production. It has been a long road and Covid has not helped. Ben has the film edited but we are waiting on the visual effects to be completed. We are on our 3rd visual effects team. Ben has very high standards and we are on a shoestring budget. He wants the absolute best for Part 2 and he is not willing to cut corners. I hope you all can have patience as Ben and team do their best to get Part 2 done right. Thank you. We are grateful for your continued support, patience and interest in the film.

The music is on-spot, the screech is horrifying, the subtle pause on any background sound when the creature is near is perfect. The silence, the indifference the thing has for immobile vehicles makes a lot of sense too. Also, the fact that they fear humans, even though they consider us prey, gives some sort of animalistic realism to them. They aren't humans... But almost are. I like the acting of the interrogation and the final conversation. All 3 actors are great, but the oldest Sheriff (Henry Bazemore, Jr) absolutely nailed it. His part is all about drama, which isn't something all horror movies manage to do well; But this short surely hit the spot, and they chose an excellent actor for the role.

To all wondering about the music. I have done hours of research and I found the following: Revenge by Kerry Muzzey - 15:14 - 16:25 Something can grow by Tony Anderson - This is the violin song that appears at 0:05 - 0:52, 12:19 - 14:00, and 14:50-15:14 Evaporate by Luke Atencio - 4:35 - 5:45 The Summoning by Kyle Preston - 5:58 - 6:50 Because Finally It's Everything Alaskan Tapes - 10:25 - 10:38 I apologize but I couldn't find anything on that one atmospheric song between 3:27 and 4:04 or the song after the summoning between 6:50 and 7:04. My theory is that the song after the summoning is just a rendition of Revenge by Kerry Muzzey. Most disapointingly I couldn't get anything on the music between 10:43 and 14:10. Can't wait for the next movie. Great work Ben.

“Wendigos” are people that have committed cannibalism and morphed into a monster, so I think the miners he was talking about must’ve ate each other and the monsters are them years later after turning into Wendigos. This is one of those rare horror shorts that I wish was longer because I simply didn’t want it to end. This could be a full length episode on an anthology tv series. Henry Bazemore Jr is absolutely phenomenal. He does more with the show of emotions on his face than most jump scares films fail to do, terrify me at the thought of what he witnessed that night. I hope to see him in a feature length horror/thriller soon. Everything about Miners Mountain was amazing.

The actor who plays older version of the sheriff comes out on Season 1 ep 2 of the show “Sleepy Hollow” in the first minutes of the show. When I saw him I was like,” dude!! He’s from that one horror film” and I had to look it up again. Worth it, cause I watched this short all over again.

The creatures resemble wendigo, not exactly in appearance, but in origins and abilities, the miners were closed off in the mountain, so if they were trapped instead of crushed then the miners may have resorted to cannibalism, which would have made the wendigo. The abilities of the creatures are (based off of events in the film) speed and strength, because of the creature decapitating the deer carcass in the blink of an eye, the creatures also appear to be intelligent to some capacity, because they stalk their prey, and didn’t kill the prey right away, as seen when the female creature stopped in the middle of the road and stared, and the fact that the presumed wendigos toyed with their prey, dropping the head on the car for example. I, of course am no expert, and I could be dead wrong. Either way 10/10 film, great monster.

This is a brilliantly shot piece akin to a hollywood level film. The same level of skill goes for the acting and story structure and editing to further the sinking feeling of fear. I admit I came upon this film while searching for short films relating to stories surrounding the fictional yet widely celebrated SCP foundation. When I saw the cover I expected it to be inspired by the titular foundation and one of their SCP's, 096 also known as The Shy Guy. The face was very similar and I thought "Oh an award winning film about one of my favorite independent/fan created monsters? This is going to be sick!" Instead I was graced with a seemingly original story with the recognizeable tropes of monster horror and tragedy. Overall I'd say it's a solid and expertly crafted film that I would love to see a continuation of. The only caveat that I saw in this was the effect of the deer head hitting the car. It was the only real jumpscare in the film and it didn't hit quite as hard as I personally would have liked. However I'm curious if the tracking shot leading to the car door, as if being the creature's view was meant to imply that it was above him, on top of the car or otherwise. Something left to audience interpretation perhaps. Undoubtedly drawing on the legend of the Wendigo with its subtle nod to the origins of the town of Miner's Mountain and the question asked by one of the agents if any miners survived. If they did, they would have undoubtedly needed to eat their colleagues, dead or otherwise, which cursed them with the evil spirits. Since Wendios are thought to retain their intelligence, finding a scape goat to protect themselves only makes sense. They watched the Sheriff from afar for years, waiting for the moment to strike and claim him as their scape goat. Again a beautifully executed piece of storytelling. One I hope to see continued.

that confused me as well too. I thought it was the same person, but then they don't look anything alike honestly. I had kinda thought the event had taken place a few days prior to the film (unless it said it somewhere and i hadn't noticed) but I was definitively confused since the two don't look the same, I just assumed it's the same person because that's the only thing that made sense and that maybe the lighting made his face look skinnier in the dark

And then d camera zooms in on d Sheriff clinched Fist!! My fist was clinched also!!! BTW I'm a 54 yr ole Black Male. Lol!! Also, it's refreshing to see n d horror genre d crap u woul have to go through as a Black person when you r d one lucky enough to survive the night mare!!
