Reading the dunes? As a young man I did not know that could be a problem. Till I rode my dirt bike off a cliff that I never saw coming. I lived through it without major injury. The funny part is I’m a slow learner. I made it back to camp and told my buds what had happened. We all piled into a pickup to go find the accident site. We crashed the pickup into the bottom of the cliff that I had ridden off the top of. Be careful when the shadows disappear.

Travel elsewhere such as Baja. So many live far from a town and you will see all manner of 2WD vehicles off the road. Only here in the states do we uisually have the option of NOT goindgdown the less traveled path.

I'm pretty sure this was 3 weeks ago today. I saw the crew headed back from the SxS recovery as I was headed to our AirBNB. The outdoor temperature sensor in my rental car was reading 109°F. Also, I learned why it's called Hurricane on the Monday night after that SxS recovery! That sand storm was wild!

I'm not sure sure what the time frame for film to upload is. But I did see the truck that was pulling van that was converted to a film developing studio, IIRC, not long after the video was posted. He was down in Southern Arizona at that point.

Have you considered having a small drone as a part of your recovery kit? It would enable you to get a birds eye view over a wider area when searching for a poorly pinned vehicle.

I think Kaulin underestimated how hot that trailer is. In a 103f that trailers surface temp is probably 130-150f at the least. Great video as always tho!

Great reminder about hot exhaust on dried out brush! Saw a Jeep start a forrest fire while stopping to open a gate one time - with all the spring rains and invasive species of plants that spring up then dry out, you gotta be careful when you stop on any flammable brush

@Occuria1 Everyone is entitled to their own likes. I personally don't care for Chinese food. We have a Chinese restaurant near me that has great macaroni and cheese. And I also like their batter-dipped chicken. They make it for sweet and sour chicken, but I don't like the sauces, which are separate. They make very good fried potatoes, too. That is my foray into Chinese.

@@DerekL2005 towing and recovery is a 24/7 business especially in a town that is known for off-roading. Matt's video's show only the off road side, but he has an entire on-road recovery business as well. The towing business is very competitive, so if you want to stay in business you have to very selective about the jobs you turn down. Meaning you take every job you can even if you are on a datenight or have a family event planned (as has been the case in Morr Video's in the past). That is a very hard life to maintain unless you have a stake in the game I.e owner or know your inheritance is the company. Matt could be the nicest person to work for and would still have turn over in these circumstances. Some people want more family time, more money, maybe to move to a different area's etc.

⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠@@romeobladeyour assessment of the situation is purely from a business standpoint. The reality of the situation is it’s much more messy than that. There has been a lot of off camera drama. I’m sure most people could be completely unaware of it just by watching the videos and reading some of the comments. That doesn’t mean there aren’t people that do know what’s happened and heard it from people directly involved and not just second hand. Jefe is family and actually moved for this job. He’s been the cause of much of the turnover over the years, especially early on. He’s helped Matt grow the channel and make a lot of money with things like the games, but there has been a high cost to his help. Matt has lost long term friendships and business relationships directly because of him. This an old workplace story. Tons of turn over from a toxic manger and it takes years for those above to figure out who the real problem is.

I was coming back home from Minnesota with my Dodge 2500 4x4 pulling a 25 foot camp trailer in a snowstorm once, and my GPS wanted me to turn off of the plowed and sanded freeway and take a 2 lane road in the mountains. I said NO, and kept on driving. I then got the "recalculating" song. The little Honey that is trapped in my navigation even wanted me to turn around and go back. She eventually gave up and let me take the freeway.

@@BuilderofRat wow that's wild! A trucker in NE Oregon followed Maps off of the interstate (the ONLY ONE AROUND) and up into the mountains. He walked to the nearest town after he got stuck on a logging track, I think it took him 2 days? Good thing you used your common sense unlike that guy.

yeah always anchor to the wheel or least-moving lower suspension part. For the pickups I haul it's on the lower control arm out by the ball joint/wheel.

At 13:30 you can tell the Tahoe has 4wd because of front tire slipping. But yeah, still a tire combo that will never work in that kind of sand.

Must say here in Australia we don't have the wild off road culture that you guys do. Our off-roading is more destination orientated and less recreational. I think your average Aussie would shudder to think their outback is used that way. Having said that there are some crazy Aussie outback 4WD trails. Plus it's you country... you do you :-)

I once told a customer " i want you in reverse, but no gas. and as soon as you're out i want you to put it in neutral and let me drag you a bit" .. Next thing i knew i got him full throttle into the back of my 4x4. (not saying this customer is dumb, but some are!). Love the content Matt!
