This has to be in the top 5 videos ever. Beautiful scenery. Teamwork that rivals the gold nugget recovery. A few observations; 1. Caitlin and Collin are smart, attentive and focused. They take direction well. 2. The wrecker is a formidable machine. I can't think of a tougher or more nimble civilian vehicle. 3. Matt is a natural leader. I loved how he left it to the youngins and guided them through the obstacles as a great leader does. Patiently giving clear instructions. Never losing his attention to how he approaches them in his requests. Just fantastic teamwork in a situation that was rife with opportunities for it all to go south. Lastly, the wrecker eating up the soup bowl was epic. Made it look easy. What a machine. A great way to spend an hour. Thanks again for top notch content.

How many people would let a 17 year old-even though an expert rock crawler-drive the wrecker on that job? That’s great leadership right there. Truly. I should send this video to the coach of the Seattle Storm who never plays rookies.

This recovery was a joy to watch. The MORR team showed up and showed out. Only second to the Golden Nugget recovery due to the connection to Ed and the family. If that tailgate still opens/closes. I'd leave it and have a story to tell when anyone asks about it. Hats off to Matt, Katelynn, Koulin, Kolby, and the local veteran who grabbed some stunning aerial footage of that beautiful scenery. I love seeing Katelynn use her skill from competitive rock crawling and apply it to the work she is doing with MORR. What she did here on the Rubicon, in a complicated beast of a machine, doing a very difficult task, for several hours, shows that she is a huge asset for the team. Plus...this young woman just SPARKLES!! Her cheerful presence and clever retorts (about using the rear-steer for example) is great fun for us watching the videos. I'm always glad when she's on the next video.

But what truly impressed me was how quickly you got this edited and uploaded! By the time we were off trail we were being sent screenshots of our cameo appearance! woohoo KZfaq almost famous! Matt and team are just as personable and friendly as they appear on these vids, awesome family and team! We thank you.

Maybe you can plan a mini vacation now to attend the 2025 Off Road Games, maybe you'll get invited by Matt. If you go, I'm sure you will have a lot of fun. My grandson got his 4WD pickup completely high centered in the sand on the shore of the river that runs through our farm. Meanwhile little Katelynn ( under Matts professional and careful eye ) was TOWING A PICK UP TRUCK over topography that most people couldn't drag a steering wheel through . An EPIC and astonishing retrieval , showcasing that through leadership and teamwork , the nearly impossible can be made to look not only doable , but routine .

This is a really great hour. Back in 2003 I ordered one the then first Rubicons. I lived outside of Denver. We decided to do the Rubicon trail for its namesake. Got there, went about a half mile in, walked a bit further, said we’ll break something and not get out of here, and turned around and headed back to Colorado where I understood the rocks and trails better. Watching this says I made a really good decision. Love watching your videos. Hope to stop in Hurricane later this summer to say hi.

Matt and crew I am a bit of off roader also because I am in charge of 82 people that run a search and rescue here in the Tampa area for the entire state of Florida. I have to fight the sand all the time because of the beaches here BUT no rocks per say. All that being said of all the videos you have done over the years I would have to say this was the most professional and dangerous rescue you have done to date. With all the cameras and help you had it was an ineradicable video and recovery. You are right that the video is 50 minuets but the actual rescue took hours (been there and done that more than one time over 25 years) Tell the crew great job and you owe them all new shirts and the cost of laundry for all the work the did. As for the tail gate if it were mine I would be proud to keep it as is and I would have a magnetic sign made that I would post on the bent gate that would say something like "I took on the RUBICON TRAIL and all I got was this tail gate) . I would be proud to have made it as far as he did and would want the world to know that at least I tried. It should be something he should be proud of. Again tell the crew what a great job they did as well as all the volunteers that pitched in to make this happen. This is going to be a hard video to top all other recoveries will look tame if anyone has seen this one first. Everyone stay safe and thank you for all the work you put out there

Now I know why Matt built the Wrecker!! The Rubicon and the Soup Bowl flexed the muscles of the Wrecker but didn't come close to stopping it!! That was one of the coolest (no lake water pun intended) recoveries ever. And it was so cool that you could help out a number of trail riders along the way. Colby sitting in the chair was epic! Just taking in the scenery! The local, the customer/ camera man/drone operator, the other drivers, all added to a very satisfying video. Thanks Matt!

Colby had his dreams come true, driving the Morrvair, on the Rubicon Trail which was another dream come true. He's so happy his ankle only hurts when he breaths. Matt the master of ppl off road recovery did it again on the most visible Trail in the western U.S. The wrecker he designed and built was on the Rubicon Trail doing a job no one else wanted. The total visibility of this recovery is probably get more views than any other recovery. The whole video shows the greatness of him and the wrecker. Colin's role in this recovery was beyond belief, he kept the truck right side up and saved the sides of the truck with his driving and braking. Katlin learned how to drive the wrecker on the job. With Matt's guidance she was able to put the wrecker in the safest spots giving Colin a better chance of backing that truck off the trail . All of the three California jobs I am aware of have shown Matt, the wrecker, and his team successfully recover each vehicle. That's 100% / perfect for out of state recoveries. And don't forget New Mexico...

@@Atodaso-pg9kqI mean with the amount of times that boom is dangerously close to the towed vehicle, they really should have anticipated that and removed the tailgate. Had they taken the tailgate off it would have allowed more swing towards the wrecker. The rear bumper would have been riding on the boom. The tailgate was a sacrificial lamb to causing more damage to both vehicles.

The down side of being Matt's son, getting dragged backwards in a dead vehicle exerting all his strength for many hours all while being tossed around like crazy. The up side of working for Matt, you get to drive an awesome off road machine though a bucket list location. The down side of working for Matt, you roll your ankle and have to continue working with a smile on your face because of the up side. And then there is Kaitlin, acts and talks like a young lady of her age, she fools me every time into forgetting that she is an accomplished rock crawling driver. It depends on which trim level he has, if it's a Rubicon trim then it should handle the Rubicon stock. Of course, you might get some trail pinstripes, which he might not want on his new truck.

The Rubicon has changed so much over the years, back in the 70s when I first ran it, the only rigs that could make it were Jeeps, old Scouts, early Broncos, FJ40s and Nissan Patrols or the like. The passage between trees and boulders were so tight no wider vehicle could even get started on the trail. I went over the trail many times in the 70s with an FJ40 with 1100 15 Tru tracks by Armstrong, and no lockers or lift kits, only had very basic rock sliders and we learned to shield our tail lights with armor. Many rigs took heavy damage, that was common, altho I was lucky(?) with the Toyota. BTW stock 6 cylinder with only a "Man A Fre" kit on it. THere was no "Soup Bowl". The main thing I remember was the "Big Sluice" and the "Little Sluice" and the dreaded Cadilac Hill going out. Fun times.
