I’m shocked that they got planning!! I love the house and aesthetics but it really doesn’t fit in with the rest of the village 🙁

Blends in perfectly with the old house to the left of it looking from the sea. I don’t think the old cottages were originally painted white so they have actually changed the original look.

@@simonfrancis9985 Ooohh right well I think I was the only one that noticed from the comments so think you got away with it, And the (clayworsplaster) Sure some like, might just be me on that one no one else commented on that either.

I noticed it too, but I just dismissed it. That unfinished concrete look is cheaper to build but looks “old” quite fast. But I thought that rustic look was what they were going for.

Pretty sure Cornish history will survive a modern cottage. It's a living thriving village - not a museum. (Besides, where the property sits, it's not like the home is ruining the view for everyone else.)

When they zoomed out, the house looked like oversized metal containers. Basically, it looks like a stacked container home sticking out like a sore thumb beside historical Cornish Cottages. If they wanted to make it modern, I wish they did so while respecting the history of the neighborhood. Good architecture should also consider the location, the neighborhood, the terrain. An understanding of the house’s background surroundings should be incorporated in good design. Unfortunately, there are architects who disregard all that because for them whatever they think is “aesthetic” is all that matters. These are architects who thinks that practicality, engineering integrity, location and surroundings should be the ones to adjust to *their* design, and not the other way around. Good design should solve problems, not just simply look pretty.
