Hope I win became disabled from an injury at work haven’t hunted since 2016 want to start crossbow hunting just got a CHAMP permit for both challenge hunter and for crossbow. I can now hunt from a stopped vehicle since I can’t walk the mountains I once did. Been battling depression decided to get back the thing I loved most hunting. Good luck to all

I have an older crossbow I got from selling my regular bow after I couldn't draw it anymore because of health. I was going through the process of getting my handicap license so I could hunt with it when PA finally allowed all to use them. I have gone out and missed a few deer with it but with you tuning videos or even better winning a new one I will finally get one in the freezer.

Great video series. I'm new to crossbows... and havent bow hunted in 20 years... just getting back into it. Bought my first crossbow (wicked ridge M370) yesterday during Bass Pro's sale. Trying to make sure I do things right I see a lot of mixed reviews on the cheaper /mid bows... people saying they break. So I'm researching to make sure I do things right. I think most of the negative reviews are folks that broke bows from user error. The main thing I learned that I hadn't already seen in the past few weeks of research... is the idea to use a heavier arrow. I'm not sure I should do that with the speed of my bow being lower... but it's great to know.

Love the video lot of good information I've been shooting a cp400 thinking about switching to the diesel X my stepson just bought one yesterday I got to shoot it and it is so smooth it's ridiculous and with that 50% let off it's so much easier to cock than my cp400 thanks for all the information

Since I initially watched this review I went out and bought the Vital X. I've already bought the Lumix speed ring scope which I paid about $90.00 for. So, I've got about the same money in it as I would if I had bought the Diesel X. I bought the Vital X because of two reasons: Primarily because of the lighter weight. I'm planning to hunt in mountainous terrain this fall and that was a factor. Secondly, I liked the foregrip better. The adjustability of the stock wasn't an issue for me because I'm only 5"7 and the Vital X was quite comfortable. So to the performance of the bow: i really like the way the bow shoots. Although I haven't run it through a chronograph, it seems quite fast. My guess is probably in the mid 390's. I like the trigger. I was pleasantly surprised there although I'd rate my Barnett with the triggertech maybe a little bit better. The bow is accurate. I've been shooting out to 50 yards and consistently getting 1 1/2 inch groups. I'd say this bow is a winner in the price to value category. I just think it's a lot of bow for the money and I'd say it's performance is as good as anything up to $1,000.

Ps you are very close on the speed, factory bolts run right at 395,you loose 10fps per 25 grains you add to the bolt. There is a great video on it here on KZfaq talking about the advantages of heavier bolts and the speed difference on chronograph ;) happy hunting!

Was considering picking up the diesel x, would you reccomend 125 grain broadheads? And maybe a suggestion for a broadhead and bolts would be appreciated, I plan on hunting deer with it. And have only used compounds up until this year and need any advice I can get, should injury from the past has caught up to me and no longer can shoot my compound, thanks!

I personally am a big fan of 150 grain broadheads. Arrows I recommend Sirius Phoenix (premium quality) or Killer Instinct HYPR KE’s (great quality).

You may prefer the X1 (if that’s in your price range) or you may find the vital to be more comfortable with its lighter weight.

You can shoot other arrow brands, however you need to shoot: 1.) 20" or longer 2.) 390 grains or more 3.) Half moon nocks.

Thanks for making this video. So I decided to go with the Fatal X. I received it and put it together over the weekend. Right away I noticed the bolt was at least 1/8" over the shooting rail when loaded. The other crossbows I own the bolt to flat on the rail from one end to the other. What do you see on your Killer Instinct crossbows? Thanks

I've seen this on my friend's Fatal X. I think the brush style arrow retainer at times can put a little too much down pressure on the back of the arrow, causing the tip to be slightly elevated. I have not seen it impact accuracy though and my buddy's who have the Fatal X have left the brush retainer on the bow as they like how securely the arrow is held in place. Hope that helps. As long as it doesn't affect your accuracy, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

@@draggindeeroutdoors the main thing it has affected so far is the crossbow was shooting very high out of the box. I finally got it sighted in after making big adjustments on the scope. I wonder if it will change over time as the brushes wear. Time will tell. I do like that the bolt is secure. Thanks for your input on this.

Bought the VitalX end of August. Got it sighted in and took a few practice shots with it. All done under 10 shots. Opening morning I get in my blind and cock the bow. I set it down and unpacked my gear. I wasn’t in my stand but 5 minutes when I hear a loud crack and look to find a cracked limb on my new bow. Now I’ve been calling and emailing for the past three days and they do not answer. I will never buy another killer instinct product. Buyer Beware

I own a fatal x the limb fractures just 2 Years old, well taken care of, using killer instinct arrows, use the rail lube, string wax , check all the fasteners, the other night, a 11 point, watched from August, finally got it within range, in my ladder stand, was trailing a doe, went to pick up my crossbow noticed the left wimb was fraying bad, I didn't pull a shot on that buck, I won't pull a bad shot I'll let them walk, disappointed in wicked ridge, found out other posts that these bows have limb issues, why didn't they put something out there of these problems, this could involve a bad injury, especially up in a stand, and I see when they do warranty work they install the same limbs that are having issues, I don't get much hunting time, talked to my boss he let me come back to work and take my last days off next week, at this point I'm done with wicked ridge, just ordered a Wrath 430 off of sportsman surplus, I'm going to just toss this fatal x in the fire melt it down throw it in the garbage, I don't want to get it fixed and sell it so nobody else gets hurt, I will never own another wicked ridge bow, best thing is the burn pile, then the garbage, do anybody ever test these bows, well was a good lesson do your homework before you buy a piece of garbage.

Thanks for the video Matt- quick question- have you tried using the DSC cranking system with the new Vital X? I was just wondering if the creaking noise is normal as I hand crank the string back? It sounds like the stock on the crossbow pops here & there from the stress of the DSC as it's being cranked back. Hope this makes sense? Thanks

I have not tried the DSC crank yet on the vital. Maybe shoot KI a note and ask? Or you could post this question on Crossbow Nations forum, someone on there I’m sure has the crank. Sorry I can’t be of more help!

I see string stops on the two "lesser" crossbows... I've contacted KI and was told the diesel does not come with stops , did you add them ? If you did where did you get them ?

You always do really good videos, but why are you always reviewing killer instinct crossbows and nothing else I mean, you got the killer instinct crossbow that's made in China you got the Barnet it's made in China. How come you don't review anything? That's made here in America?

Hey Don! I've been a KI user and member of their field staff team for a few years now. While KI bows may be manufactured in Taiwan, their R&D and headquarters is just a few hours from me in my home state of Michigan. And I'm all about supporting Michigan based companies. What started as me submitting a field staff application to KI has become a partnership where I get to test their products and create videos for you guys (some of the products they let me keep). It's fun and they've always been super cool to work with.

Hey, Bud, thanks for the answer I live in Michigan as well but it matters fact I don't live far from one of their locations here in Michigan a Frankenmuth, Michigan. I was just curious why you just reviewed the k I crossbows I had one once, and the safety wouldn't work on it very well. And I had the crossbow cocked and it just went off on its own and I got rid of it. It scared me. I can't have a crossbows that just shoots when it wants to.

No they're not TenPoint Crossbows are made in the United States Mission crossbows are made in the United States and Ravin crossbows were made in the United States until Crossman took them over they might be made in Taiwan or China now Raven but they were American-made in Wisconsin

I have a killerinstinc crossbow 425 it is always broken. Have fired it 12 times since 2020 when I bought it .have hunted once with it always broken. Customer service is none good. The last replacement parts they sent me were defective . I have been trying to contact customer service since October of this year to get parts to fix bow .no one answers the phone. They have a number that says leave a message and they will call you back at there convenience. There bows are made in tiawan and are junk.
