In the late 1970s I was a crew chief of a U.S. Army UH-1(Heuy). One day over a civilian area we had a hose split. We had a trail of black smoke following us. We put it down nice and safe. Within a few minutes we had police, fire, EMS and the local news all over us. It was like a three ring circus. Someone had called in a aircraft crash. We contacted the base got what we needed, I repaired the craft and we return to base. Makes for a good story to tell the grandchildren. "the vehicle you're flying doesn't seem like it's very complicated" lmfao, oh my sweet summer child................. Heli flying is about as difficult as it gets when it comes to operating a vehicle. Very few can do it. Go buy some decent heli sim hardware and get MSF2020, DCS or Aerofly FS4 on PC. Better yet, you can just go pay for heli flight lessons, it's enormously expensive, but if you have disposable income and time, it's probably fun if you can handle the insane technicality, memorization, hand-eye coordination, and focus of aviation. Won't sugar coat it, piloting real aircraft is not for everyone, and I mean, it's an extremely niche hobby and career that is starving for applicants. Very few people can qualify for it in the civilian world. Less and less people are becoming pilots, and more so for helicopters. Flight simming is almost as real minus the felt g-forces and real world error (that can also be simulated). I would suggest to start there. Maybe go get a FPV quadcopter or look into some RC heli stuff. fyi, that's a Robinson R22, the most dangerous aircraft money can buy. More deaths from that aircraft's errors than any other in aviation history. To put it lightly concerning your curiosity of the cost, operation, ownership of such a craft; unless you are already aeronautically inclined with these crafts, you are not the market for such a thing.

Cool vid. What's your goal once you get enough hours and all the other requirements? Planning to fly for anyone/anything in particular?

Dang, didn’t realize I used to live right by here! On your approach to land I immediately recognized the street. Moved about 2 years ago and looks like quite a bit has changed and been added to the area.

He get called in for a normal landing, but several years back we had a small plane actually crash within yards of the edge of the interstate and despite there being a good 20 people milling around the crash site not one of them called 911. It wasn't until I drove by headed the opposite direction, saw the crowd and no obvious police or EMT presence and decided my adding to the crowd would be pointless, and called 911 that they had even heard about a plane crash. Unfortunately there were no survivors. From what I saw it looked like it was a direct nose first into the wooded hillside.

I'm a licensed Private Pilot and I'm jealous you have that helicopter! Someone actually thought it was going down? I guess that person has never seen a helicopter land much less a helicopter!

That would be confusing for a normal person. Cool cops
