The 10 years renewable permit is not entirely true. Mauritius offers what is called YPOP visa and that depends on the company hiring you. Most companies will not provide you will a 10 year YPOP VISA. You cannot bring in your family as a student. Only as a resident on a work visa or premium visa. Every other thing you said is true. Please note that you cannot really get sustainable jobs here in Mauritius for you to be able to change your visa from a student work permit. Before you earn more than 500Usd would take time. Students here earn as low as 5000rs to 10kRs. Although as from next month interns will start earning 11k monthly based on government orders. Please make sure you have skills sets before coming here. If not you'll suffer. Jobs are not easy to get here Hope this helps.

withe all due respect my brother, 500 dollar iis not enough for accomodation nor to talk of food and other expenses. Mauritius is a safe and a beautiful place but not as cheap as you make it sound
