While you are basically no. 1 target for enemy CAS thanks to the insane armor you can occasionally survive enemy bombs with broken barrel and tracks. In general crazy survivability. Love to take it out for a match or two just to have fun and mess around

Another good use for the co-ax cannon is to bait someone into pushing you by firing it rather than your main gun with the long reload.

I need to stop missing events to get the Maus because way back when I played World of Tanks it was my first tier X and I loved it. I'd play clan wars and just be a side-scraping brick wall holding off enemy rushes long enough for our offense to break through the enemy lines, and if I knew I was going down while holding a bridge the strategy was always to just turn sideways and let it happen. Even after tank corpses became moveable objects, 200 tons is going nowhere fast. The Maus is also responsible for a fairly memey War Thunder moment I had early on in the Italian tech tree, when I'd FINALLY gotten the OF-40. I had an MBT, I was in the big leagues, I had nothing to fear from these old WWII tanks, even that Maus over there! I was like a god compared to them! And then my sabot bounced off that Maus at point blank. And he slowly turned his turret, and well... To quote the Hulk: "puny god."

What is also to be considered about it's history, the origin of the Maus starts in 1941, after Barbarossa, when Hitler expected the Soviets to field large, heavily armored tanks by 1943, which is why the Tiger-Maus and Maus projects were drafted up and developed at high speed in late 1941 to 1942, to produce a heavy tank in the 70-100 ton range. When the Krupp plant was hit by airstrikes in 1943, and with development generally being slow becuse of yet still missing solutions to propell such a large and heavy tank, development slowed, and the first prototype was only finished in 1944, when it became obvious that the Soviets were infact not fielding 70+ ton tanks. This was the main reason why the Maus existed, to counter imagined super-ehavy Soviet tanks which never came to bear.

One vehicle that is very similar to the Maus is it's older and smaller brother, the Nb.Fz, basically a Maus at 1.3 minus the armor

In general its recommended to just use the Pzgr 43 shell, simply because the extra pen by the 128/88 doesnt compensate for its significant reduction in damage when u do end up penning, so id rather have something i have to aim for weaker spots than to penetrate and not kill

I use the Maus usually to make large impassable road block to force the other team to go a different direction, in Poland since that's the most viable map for this tactic.

I remember getting the Maus when it was a tech tree vehicle along with the Coelian and the Panther II and Tiger 10.5cm but now i barely every knock off the dust on these relics of WT. I do enjoy the Panther II at the BR its at right now its not to bad.

i would really like to see an is-7 and object 279 video. those tanks are really rather rare though and you'd need to have the tank to be able to review it me thinks

for the Maus (and any vehicle with secondary coaxial cannons) I recommend downloading a custom sight from WT Live that offers a ballistic trajectory for the secondary cannon.

You should do the CT-CV 105 HP. (Last year's summer event vehicle) Despite being a modern wheeled tank with good mobility, it has almost the same physical dimensions as the Maus.

I just got around to finishing the reasearch for this thing and holy shit is it fun. I love being able to just ignore some vehicles if I see a more urgent target and shrug off most anything. I already have like a 4 or 5 kd in the thing

I was in a kugelblitz aa and I befriended a maus. The maus protected me from the big tanks and I dealt with the pesky spaa and light vehicles the maus was too slow to deal with. We won the match.

I hate this beast. Of everything in my 7.0 lineup, only the 76mm high-velocity HEAT and APDS of my T92 and M551(76) can reliably do anything to it.

I somehow missed unlocking this thing every year and now it goes up against rounds that murder it even in a downtier. With a BR range of 1.0 and the game still suffering compression this tank doesn't have much of a place, I laugh when I see one before killing it :/
