1:20 The regimental banner of the "1st Regiment of Jinan", now as the 235th Combined Arms Brigade, 71st Group Army. 2:27 Colonel Ivan Kozhedub, WWII Soviet Air Force ace (62 recorded kill, 3 Hero of the Soviet Union award), then commander of 324th Fighter Aviation Division deploying to northeastern China. 3:56 Type-97 Tank "Gongchen". The very first tank that Chinese Communist forces ever acquired, and after it took the lead of a breakthrough against ROCA garrison in Jinzhou, an honorific title of "Gongchen" (literally "the great contributor") was awarded to it. Now preserved in the Revolutionary Military Museum of China in Beijing.

@@jyashin Chinese PVA had roughly 200000 men killed in the whole war, counts to a little less than 1:1 with UN forces. Of course Western sources would tell you ESTIMATED Chinese lost 500000 men, yeah, how the hell did they estimated? When they order a air strike hitting a position, they r gonna estimate that killed a dozen guys, but in reality it probably missed or hit a wrong place killing 0. Just check the US estimates on German lost and the actual lost of the German. The kill claims on German tanks from the US pilots exceeds the total number of German tanks existed, that's how accurate the US's estimate was.

As a Chinese, I am eager to see the outside world come to understand China and CCP. We went through many unpleasent things during 1950s to1970s, but China were transfromed from a backward agricultural country into a industrial country. In 1972, my mom even could only eat 1 egg a whole year, now my family can eat meat every meal. China had developed for 2,000 years almost by itself, China have completely different culture, ideology with Western coumtries, but that doesn't mean we are Fascist, we are not "brain-wash robots" repeating orders. China has many probloms waited to be solved, but which country isn't. The Western media always reports China in prejudice, I hope one day the world could truly understand us. @@kilinruan3937 The West is run by Baizuos. In my opinion the west has developed a similar, but different level of censorship as China. The taboo in China may be openly discussing criticism of the govt or party, yes? In the west the great taboo is the open discussion of the decay of western culture and the noticable change in ethnic demographics. In the west we can criticize our govts in general, maybe not on this specific topic but in general. Where as in China they can deliver warnings to the public about traveling to Paris to other western cities where the changing demographics poses a safety threat. For years I have been watching the erosion of western freedom, it seems to be the only news reported in the decade before news focused on nationalists or Trump. Meanwhile, westerners can criticize the Chinese govt in general as being an authoritarian censor of speech despite the similar, yet different developments taking place here. What are your thoughts on this?

After watching this, it's truly crazy and fascinating to see how the entire identity of China changed because of the outcome of the Chinese Civil War. Not just from Mao Zedong and his Cultural Revolution, but from the CCP in general. Pushing an agricultural country into a more industrial one like the Soviets did, and thus making China a powerful and modern country.

Incredible that the words around Mao's Tiananmen portrait were still in Traditional Chinese script. This is so surreal to see--incredible colour footage of a turning point in Chinese history. It also looks like the text was changed during the course of the video--on the right side one clip shows "中央人民政府萬歲," which means "Long Live the Central People's Government." In another clip it was changed to 世界人民大團結萬歲, which means "Long Live the Unity of the World," and then some years later it was changed to Simplified Chinese script (same words) which remains to this day. It looks like the left side, "Long Live the PRC," has not been changed other than the move to Simplified script.

@@gundamwing2260 Its a joke, but yes there were famines in the PRC under Mao, however this was at least partially to do with the environmental problems. Half of China's arable land during the famine was under-water due to typhoons. This is a recurring theme in Chinese history but only gets highlighted as a point against the PRC, the regime that ended the cycle of famines in China. Winston Churchill allowed 5 million Indians to die in a famine remarking, when told of the disaster, "Why hasn't Gandhi died yet?". Yet he is held up as a hero. Strange western double standards.
