I love that Ice and Maverick once fierce rivals actually become the closest of friends. From what Penny says it feels like Ice Man has saved Maverick on more than a few occasions.

I just love, love, love how she calls him PETE and humanizes him, and not Maverick, and she doesn't fawn over him like some demi-god Navy aviator as other women/girls would - she shows him in the real world on the ground they are equals, or rather she is the superior "Top Gun" in this situation.

Jennifer Connolly is the perfect casting choice for Penny. Loved this scene between Her and Maverick.

Why does no one ever mention the fact that Penny was mentioned as the admiral's daughter in the first movie by Goose.

If Penny’s age matches Jennifer’s in real life, then that would’ve made her 15 in the original Top Gun! And he had already “gone ballistic” with her?! Whoa there, Mav!!!

It's funny: the fact that jennifer connelly did so many dramatic dark films. Here it's like she put it all to one side which was incredible.

Now, Hangman sort of disrespected the Navy when he called Maverick an "Old Timer" when in reality he is a Top Gun Instructor for the Navy.

The sign reads "Disrespect The Lady, Insult the Navy, or Put your Cellphone on the Bar You Buy A Round!" When he talked to Penny he disrespected her, by talking about his record he insulted the Navy, but the final straw was when Maverick texted Ice and put his cell on the bar thats when Penny rang the bell so FREE BEER! but not for Maverick the back of the sign reads "You Don't Pay I Toss You Overboard!" and Maverick was thrown out.

I haven't seen the movie yet. But, it's so weird to see him using a cellphone texting I the movie. Why couldn't they stick with just talking in person face to face.and the bartender is she supposed to be the little girl from top who answers the door at his bosses home ?

There's something in this scene that just bugs the holy bejeebers out of me. The F/A-18 entered Naval Fleet Service in late 1984. Mitchell could not have been checked out in the Hornet, as he was still learning the Tomcat at that time, and had not accrued enough fleet experience or flight hours to be selected for Fighter Weapons School until 1986. So the only aircraft that he could have taken Penny for a "joyride" in would have had to have been the F-14 Tomcat. It is possible that Mitchell transitioned out of Phantoms into Tomcats some time around 1985, but according to Admiral Cain, Mitchell had "30-plus years of service" at the time of his detachment from the Darkstar program. If the movie was set in 2019 or 2020, as it was originally intended to be, then Mitchell could not have been in the Navy in 1986. The numbers just don't add up. I get that it's only a movie, and that they had to do some wiggling to get around the time between the two films, but if Penny had only said she'd gone in the "joyride" in a Tomcat, it would have been more believable.
