Recording a practice test trying to teach how to take off correctly your drone from a balcony, I leave APAS ON to demonstrate the drone behavior when you leave it on, everything went in the worse case scenario and this is the perfect example why you need to disable APAS in confinements areas.
Most of the time this test does not result in crash and instead the drone act very erratic and refuse to go out the balcony but this time was the exception resulting in a crash.

Thanks for posting the video! It's hard to post embarrassing videos but we learn the most from them.

And that is exactly why I share this kind of video. .

Would be great if in the future the RTH was smart enough to navigate through obstacles like that.

I’m confused I thought the reason there are sensors are to protect from hitting anything and that’s exactly what’s happend to my drone ! I thought I’d try active track and mine went straight into tree branches !! So what is point of obstacle sensors? Iv even out my vid on KZfaq for people to see

Isso é um exemplo de NÃO decolar em varandas, janelas e muito menos de dentro de veículos. Um drone que custa, no Brasil, $ 15 mil quebrando por culpa exclusiva do piloto

Thanks but I did not understand why APAS 'decided' to move the drop up, for what reason? are you sure it is APAS? I am very eager to understand why.

I’m Sad for you - but why did you launch from there ??
@DroneSurf
@DroneSurf 2 жыл бұрын
I do that very often but follow the correct procedure. I was just trying to demonstrate how erratic can be APAS when you leave it on. I was not expecting the worst-case scenario to happen.

@@DroneSurf ah ok I see - APAS certainly is erratic

You regularly launch from there? Just walk down into your open yard. There are obstacles everywhere, the remote signal must surely be impeded and if you lose controller connection the drone is going to “Return to Home” to an impossible location. You’re inviting disaster into your life

I don't necessarily agree this has anything to do with APAS. Like how Mavic 3 has a blind spot over the front of the drone (sensors on rear are not wide angle, just like Autel Evo 2 series), the Air 2S sensors are in front, canted forward and you have a blind spot EXACTLY where the drone contacted that beam. Take a look at my analysis of Mavic 3 with FRONT blind spot and see if you agree or not. I do have some data to back up my thoughts on this: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/apt5lpR3z8yvm2w.html

I agree with you. Is a problem in the design but APAS made to drone goes up because was unable to detect the top obstacle then crash. Still disabling APAS is the solution

@@DroneSurf If that prevents a crash, then that's the way to go! These obstacle detectors are helpful, but you and I Know you can only trust them so far. The new Mini 3 does well forward, backward, bit, once again, no side sensors. Personally? I would rather have side than top. At least I could do an Orbit or POI without worrying the whole flight if it will fly sideways into a tree, building, or whatever... Thanks for posting this!

Thank you for crunching the numbers on the angles that the Mavic 3's sensors cover. I first found out about your work from Ian In London's video. What I'm still curious about is exactly how far from the Mavic 3 do those angles finally converge (top and towards the front)? The Mavic 3 user guide should have used more diagrams, or at least larger diagrams, to show the angles.
