In this video tutorial, I am demonstrating the procedure of how to set up and perform, return to home, precision landing. Also, I am demonstrating the different scenarios how they behave including fail-safe simulation. This is more specific for the DJI Mavic Air 2/2S since distance and behavior vary by model.
In this video, I am using an Ipad mini 5th generation and the RC-N1 controller.

Excellent explanation. I fly among a lot a trees for real estate so I seldom use RTH. But it is good to know how it works for when I am out flying for fun in a wide open location. This was helpful. Thanks.

Glad this worked for you. I just crashed my Air 2S after a signal loss this morning, which is what led me to your video. It most certainly did NOT return to home. I just verified that the advanced failsafe setting was set to RTH. Instead it descended and crashed into a tree below. Looks like a total loss...

Very good tutorial. Per the number of views it should be now a reference. Just want to mention that in case of failsafe RTH (at distance longer than 50m), the drone flies back 50m before triggering RTH in attempt to get back connection to the RC, In case it doe snot get it back, RTH is triggerred.

Very well done, Melvik. Your tutorials just keep getting better and better. Your practice is paying off nicely. I never considered myself a expert on my Air 2s, but I didn't know I didn't know this, but now thanks to you, I do know. You told us what we were going to learn, then you showed us each example. Great teaching. The only way you could have made it better, would have been to add a text description of the 4 different varieties so us visual people would have a image to remember in our head. I look forward to coming to visit you and fly with you. You're so full of knowledge and you're a great teacher. Thanks for everything, Melvik. PS, did you ever find your Mavik 3? Is DJI going to warranty it?

Great informative video, especially for new pilots. As you are flying over water, you might want to consider discussing is use or lack of downward sensors while flying over water.

I fly in that area everyday. I just feel confident with the DJI drones. They never fail unless you have a bird strike or a lose propeller and I always check.

That's concerning on lost signal that if flies 50 meters first before it climbs to 167 feet in case something was 50 meters or taller on return to home. Very interesting!

Russ, the drone flies back from the original trajectory, the exact trajectory that makes it safe and this is an intention to gain reconnection while staying out of trouble. If the drone is unable to reconnect while flies back then is going to gain altitude to return to a home altitude that we set in the setting. I always recommend using more than 200FT. Normally I set 225-250 but to speed up the video I selected 167 (randomly) to make the already long video shorter.

It flies back 50 meters to check if it gets connection (it is wise it can avoid an RTH) if not, then he triggers an RTH. Note that there are additional subtle scenario, nicely detailed at: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qdNimrRimtrOZYk.html
