As other people have mentioned the lighting parallels the characters defining trait and reason for violence. Max: thinks violence is gun, knows its bad, doesnt care. Hes also full of rage. Grace:thinks shes doing mankind a favor by killing all pervy men. Blue represents the purity she thinks she holds and tries so hard to achieve. BUT BUT what people havent talked much about are the parallels between between her lighting and the bathtub song. Her song then showed her desparetly clinging to the idea of holiness and being a good Christian girl, but she ends up slipping into her lust for Max, which drives her to accidently kill him, but gladly clean it up. The lighting in "dirty dudes musr die" starts of pirmarly blue but im moments of intense emotion it shifts red showing deep down shes not just doing this for holiness despite her desperately wanting that to be the case, she full of blood LUST that is clasing its way out of the facade that she's convinced herself is the truth.

WoaH the parallels in the staging are very good i didnt notice them until literally putting them side by side lol

i find the parrells and differences between the two songs very interesting. Lighting switching from Jaegerman's Red (because his filled with rage towards those who killed him, and the type of people they were, and his color choice is kind of self explanitory). Whereas Chasity's was blue. Which I think is super interesting. Blue is seen as a color that is truthworthy or reliable (something Chasity was, in TGWDLM Bill comments about her and is generally well liked and respected. I believe she a well known babysitter around town as well but i dont have a source on that one off the top of my head), its also seen as conservitive and traditional as well, tracking with her as a person as well. But on the more negetive aspects of blue Chasity is overly sensitive (not a great use of this word but ill explain), anxious and stubborn. So I think her sensitivity and anxiety really tend to play off each other a lot, which doesnt help cause shes stubborn as hell, so she refuses to let go of her beliefs and fears. By Sensitive I meant she gets easily rattled and worked up over the things she believes in. And I believe this sensitivy is actually what kind of grew her ego because she actively knew how people in High School saw her. It kind of made her foricbly recoil on herself, doubling down on her beliefs because why would people be so mean? because they are cursed to go to hell. She took whatever bullying she got (which we know must be some cause theres no way Jaegerman protected her for their entire school careers together). And she started using her stubbornness as a protective barrier. but then Jaegerman started to wiggle his way past her defenses. Made her (he didnt make her, but in her mind he did) think all these terrible scandalous thoughts. Making her anxiety grow because if shes having these thoughts shes no good then the rest of the sinners in the school. In her mind using the power of the book she can *save* hatchfield. She can help the people who helped her (the nerds) and showed her kindness by getting rid of the type of people who continously hurt her, the nerds, and made her question her beliefs. But now shes doubled down on them. I dont think shes going after "Dirty Dudes" because she went back and doubled down on christianty. She killing them to protect all of the people like her. SHE was the only one who was able to take down Jaegerman, and now she sees herself as the only one who can help the people who helped her. Pete and Steph willingly helped her (id say begrudgingly but i dont think thats how Chasity sees it) when everything went down, for gods sake she pulled a stolen cop gun on them in a coffee shop, BEFORE they knew this had anything to do with the supernatural, and still willingly helped her. Something she definitely is not used to. IDK though this is what I get from the scene and Chasity's motivations. By trying to do something completely opposite of Max by trying to protect the nerds she has become what he was. Also to go into a little tangent about Chasity's religious beliefs, I do believe she isnt really christian anymore, but I believe, since its all she really knows, that she is using its principals to guide her. Everything happened because of a dirty dude who wouldn't stop bothering her. "Do you think the time that I was chaste was being wasted on a holy mission?" She believes THIS is her true mission all along, not holding herself for marriage, her time doing that was just so she could see what real 'dirty dudes' were like, and its her job to get rid of them to save the people who helped her. EDIT: I forgot to add if you look at the lighting on the edges on Max's stage there are blue lights and on the dges on Chasity's there are red lights. Blurrying the lines between the two and what truly is good and bad. Because at the end of the day Max was a teenager with a bad home life, was he a aweful person? yeah. but before he dies we are shown he is capable of change. but i think on chasity's end i think it kind of shows though that even if you are capable of change that isnt always a good thing. or it doesnt alway mean you change for the better.

the choice to make them foils is so good. both gold star examples of repression causing aggression. though max enacts violence, its all very hands on. he knows what hes doing is bad, but its fun, so why not? grace sees it a god-given responsibility to rid the earth of men like max jaegerman, something completely justified and even morally correct. so the color symbolism in their numbers correlate to this as well, with max KNOWING he is terror incarnate and grace BELIEVING she is doing mankind a favor
