They are in a very interesting position for the movie.........if Kano ends up being a traitor, everyone will have called it. If he ends up staying a good guy, people will be mad because that's not Kano. If he ends up dying.......you just killed Kano.

I don't know if he could be considered a good guy, but I could see him starting as a fighter for Earth Realm and being recruited or bought out by Outworld and Shao Khan. He's definitely going to betray people for sure. No doubt in my mind.

Because in the game lore Kano didn't backstabbing Special Forces, since he was never part of it to begin with. Kano only kill Sonya's partner. Kano was always a mercenary, a criminal from the start who later become the leader of Black Dragon. He was never part of Special Forces, nor a good guy. Kano is always an asshole from the start of MK.

This movie version seem to depicted that Kano is simply just a chosen warrior, because that is the premise of this movie so far, like everyone was a chosen. Liu Kang, Kung Lao and that original Cole dude is state to have that dragon birthmark, indicate that they were chosen. Don't know if Kano has that mark too or not in this movie.

Thinking its more likely hes a new character entirely and a distant member of the Shirai Ryu that Sub-Zero is actively trying to kill by the end. Think about all of the yellow allusions alone. Plus supposedly Quan Chi isn't in the film and Scorpion isn't a Spectre, so I don't see them doing the revenge/redemption plot. Plus I feel like Cole's mother and sister wouldn't be in the film if he was Kuai, considering him and Bi-Han are brothers and we're kidnapped together by the Lin-Kuei as children. Making Cole Kuai would ruin Kuai's backstory and make Kuai wanting to avenge Bi-Han stupid and shallow, because there wouldn't be a deep established relationship between the 2 of them, even off-screen. So i really hope it's not the case

No. Cole is a descendant of Hanzo. He is a legit his own character. He is not Kuai Liang nor Johnny Cage. Plus both Scorpion and Sub-Zero in this movie universe is god damn old. When they were still Hanzo and Bi-Han, they were live during the Edo period of Japan. I'm not surprised that in the sequel movie, they just gonna make Joe Taslim as Kuai Liang because he is already a Sub-Zero. They can just twist the story that Kuai Liang in this movie universe maybe a descendant instead of brother to Bi-Han. For Noob Saibot, they probably gonna find new actor

Raiden isn't Asian in the games. You could argue he's Hispanic because of the original actor that portrayed him in the first few MK's, but he's definitely white.

@@DarkwingD Raiden character is based off the Japanese Thunder God Raijin - facts. Yeah the actor from the 1st game was Hispanic, but the character as far as story wise is suppose to be Asian. They were just trying to keep him looking the way he did in the earlier games as much as possible because he's iconic. Nick Fury was a white guy in the early Marvel days, now he's black and that's how most people portray him now in games, books, movies, etc.

@Kobra the movies and games portray him as a white guy even in the recent installment MK11, but as far as his character he's suppose to be Asian based. I guess when someone plays an Egyptian character based in Africa and he's white you're gonna want him white in everything he's in right? Raiden's whole development is based off the Japanese Thunder God Raijin.

@Kobra 7ft tall? Lol I mean he's a God, but most of the time he about the same size as the average male characters in the game. The actor was a white guy and was tall in the first movie, but that was the choice they went with for the film. Now Shao Khan or Sheeva might stand 7ft+. Christopher Lambert did an amazing job the 1st film, but remember that's just one version of MK. As far as whole franchise he's probably about the same height as Shang Tsung or Shinnok. I understand some folks are gonna be upset about the change, but I don't see the problem as far as storytelling.

I still think Max is right in them going too hard on the design choices they went with. I'd have preferred something far more ninja-esque like in the earlier games or the later games than what we see here for him. (And to a lesser degree Sub-Zero).

In my theatre on opening day, the crowd was shocked & cheered when Reptile appeared. That was slick how they threw in a secret character as a secret character. Fan service at its finest.

The best fight in that movie. The actor(Keith Cooke) is a martial arts instructor and trained a few actors for recent movies.

Originally Kano wasn't australian, but english. Paul Anderson and producers just loved Trevor Goddard's portrait in first movie. He reshaped the character for the rest of franchise and helped to made him more popular. God bless his soul.

The only people that care about hearing that line, are the people who would appreciate an "authentic" delivery. Literally no one in existence would hear Boon deliver the line and be taken out of the movie, but many people would hear someone besides Boon deliver the line and be taken out. And if you know the original game you know Raiden chose Johnny Cage to be his champion for Mortal Kombat but now we have cole young being the champion with the mark So now there's no need for Johnny Cage.

He is the descendant of Hanzo. The recent info from Greg and this trailer confirm the leak script is true. Also, Sub-Zero is not really a major villain. He will have scene with Scorpion/Hanzo and some with Cole that all. The main villain is still Shang Tsung, but the final fight will be Cole vs Goro (which already show in the trailer). According to the script, Liu Kang and Shang Tsung is state to hated each other at the end of this movie and their rivalry will be setup for the sequel movie, alongside the introduction of Johnny Cage. This first movie is really just about Cole figure it out about his origin while introducing the MK cast.

Not enough violence, no proper fatalities except soul suck. Scorpion's horrendous spear and Liu Kang's fake brother being central to the plot. Other than that it's good.

I'm pretty sure the line is being delivered by that little girl for a reason. The way she says it and looks seems like she's saying it sarcastically; "It's a birthmark" "What do you mean?" "He was born with it" (obviously). The person is asking what do you mean because you can attain the mark in a number of ways, either being passed down by someone else through lineage (thus at birth) or by killing the owner of a mark. It does sound a little weird initially though.
