For me, an ode to Senna has nothing to do with whether or not you are wearing the right T-shirt. It's about how you speak about someone and how you act. These types of events often create something that makes me feel uncomfortable as a spectator. But Seb made a genuine impression on me and he put a lot of effort into it.

No matter which driver or team you support, you have to question the intellect of anyone who can't see the brilliance of Max Verstappen. He showed what he was made of in the very first Grand Prix he won as a teenager, in a car he hadn't driven before, and in every Grand Prix since. He has won many Grand Prix when his car was not the fastest and he has maximised his drive when his car was the fastest. Having opened that door himself, well, golly, let there be overtones! You can't eat your cake and have it, too. I love3 Max for doing his own race, his own thing. I would argue F1's foot is caught in its own trap here. The " isms" as Cam so elegantly put it, arnt always cut and dry down the line / of race so cleanly. Same thing we see with the F1 fans that know the deep history and those of us that don't. F1 is a "Culture" that culture is the one of posh Hilfiger, Vuarnet glasses n TagHeuer/Rolex. Venerating Senna and his tragic death is of course only relevant for the people who have consciously experienced this icon! Max Verstappen wasn't even born yet when Senna died. If you have children yourself, you understand very well that children obviously have no interest in stars from a past that they do not know! For the older generation of drivers such as Lewis and Vettel, Senna was their hero and great example because they consciously experienced him during his life. The young ones simply do as they are told and some are able to project their empathic abilities onto such sentiment and others would not know how to do that. Max Verstappen does not see Senna as his personal hero, but he does know his history. But for him, every death during that Imola weekend as a Formula 1 driver is one too many!
