Crazy thing is his athleticism had waned considerably by 1994 and he was still the best in the NBA for the last 3. He wasn't even as athletic in the early 90s as he was in say 1986. He adjusted his game for strength and just decided to become the greatest mid range shooter ever lol

This is the Mt. Everest of what the game of basketball has to offer. We won't see this combination of skill, talent, physical tools, mental fortitude, mastery, completeness, precision, and artistry again. If you disagree, you haven't studied his career or watched enough film. Metaphorically, the gap between #1 and whoever you have at #2 is larger than the gap between #2 and #20.

MJ is the undisputed GOAT because: 1.) *Unrivaled and Unequivocal Dominance* - MJ was in a different plateau when it came to clutch time. He never feared to take the last shot or seize control of a game. 2.) *Competitive Drive and Desire to Win* - MJ's competitive spirit and desire to be the best was higher than everybody else. He embraced challenges and obstacles. 3.) *Unmatched Defensive Prowess* - Michael was also a defensive machine, he would lockdown players at will. He was 9 time All-Defensive team awardee and a Defensive Player of the Year for a reason. 4.) *Unparalleled Offensive Production* - MJ was a prolific scorer, he never failed to deliver when it counted most. He holds the NBA records for career regular season scoring average (30.1 points per game) and career playoff scoring average (33.4 points per game). 5.) *MJ's footwork and speed was poetry in motion* - Jordan's level of artistry was out of this world. He always did something special to leave our mouth's agape. 🐐🏀🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

You could add one more to that list. Most of Jordan`s career, he was actually on cruise control. Him and his game were so above everyone else`s, that he didn`t need to go 100% to win. To illustrate this point, refer to all the "Jordan took it personal" stories, where he dropped 40-60+ on people. Jordan literally had a higher gear he could access to destroy people who pissed him off. And all at a time in the NBA where they never called flagrant fouls, and one almost had to kill someone on the court to get ejected.

As an unathletic white dude my favorite part of Jordan’s game that ppl rarely even mention anymore is his mid-range. Post Steph Curry, you can’t be considered a “great shooter” unless you shoot 3 pointers. In 2010 bleacher report released a “Top 20 greatest shooters” list and MJ was ranked number 3 and according to the writer the sole reason he’s not #1 is bc Reggie Miller and Larry Bird (the 2 ranked ahead of MJ) wouldn’t be great players without their jump shot while MJ would still be a hall of famer even if he couldn’t shoot a lick. The man took over 1100 mid range jumpers in the ‘95-‘96 season and made 49.5% of them. Basically, if you use the exact same criteria we use to rank Steph as the greatest 3 point shooter ever even tho he’s got the 4th best percentage (increased volume = increased avg shot difficulty) it’s extremely difficult to make an argument for anyone else

There’s a highlight reel here on KZfaq-or at least there used to be-of nothing but Jordan’s mid-range and post-up scoring from the least three seasons with the Bulls. Lebron fan but i acknowledges the facts that MJ had the best body control/agility ever, probably the best lay up package ever, arguably the best midrange shooter ever but sadly we only have this stats since 97, and i think he shot 50% in 97 so he is right there with KD and Dirk imo, and he also had the quickest first step ever when he was young, and with that 48 inches vertical and the hands of a 7footer his dunk looked amazing… If you love Basketball and see this video you can’t say you wasn’t impressed, MJ was just beautiful to watch

I watched MJ since his freshman days at UNC and I thought to myself that he had the perfect basketball look, physique and style and that he seemed to have unlimited athleticism and that the rest of the world would soon notice. And he had the giant hands, like, whoa, this guy is clearly The One. Then in the NBA he perfected and actually mastered the game with the most difficult moves as well as the most beautiful ones at the same time. I then thought, he's even better than I predicted and that's when I knew that this was as good as it was possible to get and that every day was a day to appreciate who he was and what he represented. I couldn't believe someone that good could even exist and I saw every moment and I'm still stunned today. It's the most amazing thing for me being born exactly 10 years after him to have experienced every moment. He truly is the goat of all sports, and most likely the goat in any vocation in human history - like he's better at basketball than Van Gogh was at painting. And that's truly what's most unique with MJ is that no matter where you came from, the feeling was universal - not only were the hardest street types in awe, but so was your sweet grandma who never watched sports except Bulls games. But more so, the world's greatest artists in general were also in awe and came out to watch MJ because he was as much an artist as he was an athlete. Immortals like Mikhail Barishynikov, the goat classical dancer of the 20th century came out to watch MJ. Itzhak Perlman, the goat living violinist at the time came out to Bulls games. Also, the inhumanly talented Chuck Close, the goat modern painter, came out to watch MJ. These people were all virtuosos in their fields with the most elite gifts and skills, but they were in awe just as much as anyone. I know Einstein would have come out and watched too if he were alive at the time. It was unanimous, and most knew he was the best there ever was, but the smart ones also knew he was the best there ever will be, and cherished the moment. It became a spiritual experience watching MJ because there were so many layers to his greatness. Magic said it the best, "the thing with Michael is, he can go 1 for 10, but that one shot may be the greatest thing you've ever seen. I'm telling you, people, set your vcrs now because when he's gone, there are no other Michael Jordans".

I notice y’all avoid adding MJ’s great passing skills in the highlights as if Jordan was only a scorer. There’s a great 2 part passing highlight reel of Jordan called “the Puppeteer” Great passing highlights in it. You really can’t called it the greatest highlights of Jordan without showing off his passing ability as well as his great defensive ability. This is why today’s generation tries to say he was just as scorer. And nothing could be further from the truth.
