@@zvonimirbeslic580 it is only installed like this on this particular job as the kitchen gets installed over the top. Saves any buttjoints in a painted area. As you can see at 10:14 it's done correctly because that wall is being painted

Finally a good KZfaq channel that actually shows you how a jobsite runs and shows an actual worker doing his thing and not stop so much for the camera. Great great great work with the camera skills and from the crew. Thank you again I'll be showing this to all of our workers to learn even the basics. Fast but right not fast and sloppy

The hardest work is the ceiling work. Looking up all day is a neck breaker so I hope you ground guys alternate with him. We always used a bazooka and all the AMES TAPING TOOLS, which has been around for at least 70 years or so. We also always let the tape dry for 24 hours and used a 7” box to fill, a 10” mud box to finish, and a 12” to skim it perfectly smooth and flat. We ran a roller and glazer in the angles for perfectly square angles and boxed them with a 3” Angle head. The AMES tools have the same specs they have had for many decades, because they are damn near perfect they way they are. You guy do a great job, and clean work is key to speed. A sloppy guy going balls out can screw up a ton of great drywall hanging, creating a ton of unnecessary wasted labor. Great job!

I agree, this kinda hustle and craftsmanship is rare these days. Being in construction I’ve seen some lazy and under-skilled workers. So it’s nice to see someone take pride in their work

@Tony McSteven Yes as a matter of fact Craftsmanship is not what it once was. These 250-300,000 stick homes being built today , will not last. Don’t get me wrong, there are some awesome crews in all fields of construction! But I have found quality now takes a back seat to quantity. JMO

I've watched several "How to ..." videos on different aspects of drywall installation, taping, finishing, etc. This video is more of a "How DO they do it!" and is very instructional on many levels. I've already stopped the video about 3 times to replay certain sections to really understand the nuances in the techniques and how the individual components all come together in perfect orchestration. Kudos gentlemen!

I'm 71 and been doing drywall since I was 13, not full time like these pro's but I still pick up things watching these craftsman. I have a funny story. When I was in my 20's I had a banjo box and had it sitting on a bucket in front of the garage. I went to lunch and when I came back the owner said he owes me a new one. He had a rat problem and was waiting with his shot gun. He saw a rat dart into the garage. He shot , missed the rat but did a number on the Banjo box. I should of saved it.

I have been slinging mud for a long time. I do all aspects of construction from framing to finish. I must say, you guys are a well oiled machine in the tape and mud profession. @@shawndejohn63 they usually texture the living shit out of most homes nowadays to avoid having to third coat. I run my second coat thick in commercial and then pull tight with a third regardless of texture *or smooth wall finish.

Travis Lee these boards are quite deep so we don't like wiping too much out as you just have to put it all back later might aswell just press enough so that they are just under flat and the tapes are stronger because there's more mud behind them. Well thats our thought process 😂

I'm just a DIY, but I tape like this with a tape box also. The real key, which you mention is to use a setting mud for the bed and first cover coat. Doing it this way, you can be completely done in one day with all the taping, dry overnight for the top coat which can be all purpose or easy sand setting and then sand the next day. If done correctly, there is very little sanding at all. For sure it helps to have at least two people with one person on the tape box and then the other behind, but you can do it one person, but a lot harder, especially with setting compound. I spent one summer sanding drywall for a commercial outfit (neighbor owned). You really come to appreciate not over filling in a major way, especially if you have to be sanding above your head on 9-12' walls when it is 90+ F.

I have the tapepro mud box, it works great but taping top angles is tough by yourself. I do like the mud box for smaller jobs but I prefer the bazooka if I’m doing more than 50 sheets as it goes further on fill ups and you don’t need someone holding tape in your angles. These guys are great to watch and they run that mud box very well!

Hey mate. Not many guys use both. Well.. that I've come across anyway... You know I have a bazooka. A Northstar one. Was given to me broken and I got it fixed for a couple hundred. Don't tell anyone but I don't know how to use one. I've been shown one but still. You could make me a video that can show it and I will post it. Thanks for watching Andrew

Ya, the bazooka is difficult to learn, but with persistence you will be very happy with the amount of board you can tape in a short amount of time! I've been running the "tube" (bazooka) for 20 years and still remember learning! Make yourself keep trying! You want to learn to adjust the tape feed and cutting blade. Also the consistency of the mud is the most important thing to getting the bazooka to run right! The amount of water you need to mix in the taping mud is almost a litre or quart here in Pennsylvania! At least with the mud we use here. The green lid, all purpose sheetrock is my preferred taping compound, but any all purpose should work. Don't use any kind of light weight because of the bonding ability and time of staying wet needs to be long as possible.

My best friend can tape and level 5 finish a 10,000 board ft house in a week by himself. He is the best drywall finisher in the area and turns down work he is so busy. I helped him do 6 houses in 30 days a few years back. When he gets the bazooka out it is a sight to see and hear.

Wow. So I am a woodworker and I don't do sheet rock work hardly ever, but this video is amazing. I taped and mudded the first coat on a ceiling in my garage over the weekend (20' x 22') and it took me 3 hours! And it looks like a kid may have done it. Haha. Great work. I am very impressed.

I'm glad to see people doing this old school way my one critique though is the T joints, we always staggered our joints we never broke them on the same joint. It strengthens the houses structural integrity when settling and less likely to breaks joints if the house hasn't fully settled.

I’ve been doing skim coating and dry wall stuff the last month and my god these guys make it look so easy! It’s crazy. I wish to be this fluent with my knife and trowel

Cornice was always amazing to me. I’m from the states and I worked as a tradie in AU for a year. It’s basically crown moulding made out of gyprock that they install with stickier joint compound. Freaking genius.

I prefill everything with quickset , if you dont those joints and butts show through over time! I have repaired a ton of jobs after many tapers have done jobs this way ....not cool

They are very thorough and systematic, meaning they are quick and do good quality work. They go there to complete the contract and get paid by the client rather than taking the piss out of an employer and dragging their arse doing a botch job knowing the boss is still going to pay them even if the contract hasn’t been complete in a respectable time frame

@@kc3481 you get paid a set price per sheet example.. $2 a coat per sheet You average 2 bedroom apartment is 70 Sheets of 12’ drywall so you get paid for 3 coats and skim coat and have to sand it once last coat dries
