After 5 months of living full time in our van in Mexico and crossing 12 different states, we have decided to finally address our most frequently asked question. Is Mexico safe?
There is no denying Mexico has it's issues and certain areas are more risky to travel than others. There is a lot of internal conflict going on but it rarely involves tourists. In this video we talk about what we personally experienced and also give 5 tips on how to stay safe whilst on the road.

We wanted to share our experiences in Mexico with you because we felt apprehensive to travel here in the first place. We do not want to ignore the devastation of the 2 innocent lives that were recently taken in Chiapas and our hearts go out to all of their family and friends. We drove the same road only a few weeks earlier. We filmed this video before hearing the news and we contemplated whether to share it, or not. The reason we want to still share our information is because we feel some positive light should be shed on Mexico as the country as a whole has so much to offer. Mexico is filled with some of the kindest and most charitable people people you will ever meet. We want to stress to you that we are not saying there is NO danger in Mexico. We are only sharing with you our personal experience and helpful tips on how to travel through the country safely.

I'm from México and i'm glad that you are enjoying your stay! Thank you for speaking honestly and show the world how this country really is, it's people, it's culture and even the bad things, bumpy roads, bad and corrupt cops, "insecurity", but for this beautiful country and it's beautiful people... i think it's worth it. I love what you're doing, i wish you luck in your journey, be safe and enjoy the ride

I’m from Mexico and We ( Mexican people) know about the sad and dangerous situation in our country. I loved how respectful you both guys were with your coments about our country, we have a lot of awesome things, places and experiences we can offer to the world, thank you for giving us that credit. I just discovered your Chanel today and I have already watched all your videos, you are amazing, 💑my couple goal! ❤️❤️ I really want to apologize for the corrupt police 😡 it’s also a huge problem we face day by day.

Diana there is no need to apologise for something out of your control. We absolutely love Mexico and we are happy to share more positive news which far outweighs the negative but is heavily underreported! That is the beautiful aspect of free speech on the internet xx

I am so happy you are enjoying Mexico! I am mexican and i can say i agree with all of what you mentioned. People here are very welcoming and warm, i am sorry you had to go through all those experiences with the cops. Police here in Mexico has always been like that, even us mexicans complain about it. I just hope the experiences you had with them won't push away the idea you have of us actual good and kind mexican people :( . love you guys, you are awesome!

It's very nice watching people say good things about Mexico. The news make it seem like a horrible place, but pretty much as long as you don't mess with drugs you'll be fine. I traveled from Mexico City to Monterrey and back by car at night and nothing bad happened. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it but it's not a death sentence. I hope you continue to enjoy the country!

The reason there aren't so many Americans traveling by van in Mexico is because they can't get health insurance without a job (in the USA) and so are too busy working to have fun and enjoy a free life. Also they are scared of Mexico because of the US media and government treatment of Mexico and Mexicans. Many Americans are prejudiced. Mexico is a beautiful country and the people are wonderful. I lived in the USA for 25 years and my favourite people who I met during that time were Mexicans and Mexican-Americans.

Thanks for the feedback!! We are definitely going to keep mixing it up. The thing you have to remember is that some videos take a lot longer than others to film and edit. Guys, thank you so much for this video and your honest opinion, I’m from Mexico living in Texas for work, I love my country and despite of some corrupted police , we have so much to offer: our people, beaches, mountains etc. There is so much more to see than the horrible news. YES, it is dangerous in some zones, like in other countries. But if you keep the lines of security, you follow rules, you travel with caution and you treat people with respect , you are going to enjoy. My family lives in Tecate Baja California, my sister have a little peaceful ranch; she often let people park inside so they feel more safe for free, we just love to meet new people and help, she and her husband used to travel like that before the babies. So next time you travel to Baja you are more than welcone❤️🙏 thank you again for being so honest! God bless you, good vibes and good travels!💕

Wonderful tips guys. From my overland trips through central and South America, and other places in the world, I might add to your tip about being discrete, not to wear jewellery, watches, or anything that might show that you have some wealth.

Another tip I did when travelling, in addition to yours, was to email copies of important documents to myself. Thus, all bases are covered and you have 100% piece of mind re this.

Miram Alcantara yes, I have been to Mexico, it is very beautiful. I know that good stories don’t sell so we hear more bad. But I also know there are dangers in Mexico. We have good friends who the wife is a Mexican Canadian. Her family are ranchers in Mexico. Last summer her brother and nephew were kiddnapped and held for ransom. Her nephew came to live with them after and will not talk about it. There are many stories from their community of similar situations. So it does make us nervous to travel down there on our own. But I also realize the majority travel down there have never had problems.
