150 Years ago Canada promised that the E&N rail line would operate in perpetuity. It was to be extended to Campbell River from Courtenay/Comox, but WWI broke out preventing the construction of that piece.
CFAX 1070's Ryan Price talks with Daniel Arbour, co-chair of the Island Corridor Foundation, about the new CEO Thomas Bevan and all the progress happening around the railway. "It's a dynamic conversation"
Daniel suggests that we might even talk about that extension to Campbell River as well, after all, it was promised to Vancouver Island during confederation.
The biggest obstacle is getting a clear commitment from Canada and British Columbia that once all this work is done that they will fund it.
Join the petition trying to secure that funding and secure our future with an active railway. chng.it/HTPJ25CqPr

This is the most encouraging news about renovating and restarting the rail system on the Island I've heard in ages. Well done to everyone working for it to become a reality again. The amount of community building and infill of housing between older communities along the corridor has been growing exponentially over the last 20 years and there is nearly no space between the communities now, so there is the actual density needed to make the trains a success for commuting.

The FN would like to see the rail gone and I just heard that Nanoose tracks are being removed as I type this. Good job. No hope for a "returning rail to Vancouver Island".
