She is right. Malcom was honest and courageous. He spoke with conviction and strong character with a high level of intellectual prowess. Ultimately, he died a believer, may Allah grant him paradise

Malcolm X's biography changed my life as a junior in high school during the 90's....because you could see how he evolved and came into his own...he was about to became a speaker on the world stage before he was killed....he just wanted justice, equality, dignity, and respect for Black people including himself....basically his lifelong journey was dealing with his place in a segregated country as a product of a bi racial background with a tragic childhood and young adulthood spent committing crimes in defiance of demeaning and often back breaking work...The Nation of Islam helped Malcolm find diginity and he went on to fight for justice and equality with his voice but they didn't respect or even appreciate how he helped the organization grow,,,,so he went off on his own to find respect and became a historical figure who became associated with revolutionairy defiance just like Patrice Lumumba, Stephen Biko, Che Guevara, and Nelson Mandela!

I completely agree with dr.Maya Angelou,I think Denzel Washington portrayal of brother Malcolm was by far the best but I think by the end of the movie they had him very sad and melancholy, (and that might have been his mood most days) but from all accounts when you hear interviews with friends and family they always talk about his sense of humor his wit and charm, I.e Gordon Parks, Ozzie Davis ,redd foxx, Dick Gregory, and even Louis Farrakhan and you can get glimpse of it in his autobiography and speeches in the showtime min Series (Godfather of Harlem) the actor who portrays brother Malcolm is angry and sad and even in the movie (night in Miami) the brother who portrays Malcolm is confused and sad,and in my opinion we don’t get to see that black shining Prince,..my favorite part of Malcolm x movie 1992 is the end when the audience finally gets to see brother minister, and Ozzie Davis says “ did you ever touch Malcolm? Did he ever smile at you? And you see that smile of Malcolm!!! :)

Deepest respect to Maya Angelou. I agree with her. I add Malcolm X ( El Hajj Malik Shabazz) Raheem Allah, after his trip to Mecca for Hajj continued to fight for black liberation; continued to endorse self defense and continued to develope ideas for the better the situation of blacks . We have a duty to his legacy as blacks in the U.S.A we need to pick up the torch and continue the struggle . Who agrees comment below 👇🏾

I so agree with her statement about inspiring people having less impact on the youngest generations because of their larger than life status. Formal schooling does this to historical figures all the time, not just historians. I had an amazing African American Literature teacher in school who taught us from the right materials and had the right resources to bring these people to life.
