Today, I am riding what I think will surely be a top 10 MTB trail ever - and possibly the best ever! Spinal Tap in Richfield, UT is simply outstanding, offering riders pretty much everything you would want:
- outstanding, unique scenic views,
- extensive segments of ripping downhill flow (with minimal pedaling required), and with
- occasional, optional strategically placed side hits/drops/jumps/rock rolls,
- challenging, steep, technical segments - again with optional lines
- a seemingly endless 18 mile, 4700 foot descent!

📸 My Camera Setup: GoPro Hero 12 (I also use the Max Lens modification and set the camera to the Superview setting with full video stabilization)

At 13:19 that right line is a tad spicy! If you didn't hit it on your next run then you should try it the next time you are out there. My son and I had such an amazing time out there this October as well. Rode it 3 times.

I didn’t notice that line until after I watched the video. Yes, there are a number of alternate lines I would like to try on a future rerun! It’s an awesome trail! Thanks for watching!

After watching you roll up and hit that double drop without scoping it out first, I knew I was watching greatness. Fun video! How long ago did you ride ST?

Thanks for the compliment! But I don’t know about greatness, I was on a roll and hit that feature without a second thought. Normally I would have had a good look before hitting something like that. Regardless, that is an awesome trail, which I hope to repeat sometime soon. Thanks for watching!! I rode it in October, I would think the upper section is now snowed in.

Thanks for the compliment! This is an awesome trail, unfortunately it’s at a very high elevation so the winter riding season is short. But the lower segment, which is also the best, might be rideable most of the year. Thanks for watching!

Great video and awesome moves! Your footage is spot on and crisp. What GoPro settings do you usually use?

Thanks for the compliment! I use the Hero 12, with the lens mod, the full stabilization and the 4K, 30fps settings. To me the stabilization is a key,and I usually ride such scenic trails that I also prefer wide angle setting. But I also experiment with the 60 fps for some trails.

Yes, I also rode the Telegraph trail, and the climb trail, while I was there (subject of a future video) and want to return and ride more..it’s an outstanding area to ride! Thanks for watching!

Hmmm, hadn’t thought about that. I’m thinking that the middle is probably a blue, except for the ledgy nature of some of the flowy sections that might unnerve some intermediates. But it’s all rideable, no drops or technical moves required. However, the lower section is definitely black. Thanks for watching!
