2 жыл бұрынEncircled by one of the world’s largest enclosed lagoons, the 101st French department is a real cultural crossroads between Africa, the Indian Ocean and Europe.
Mayotte’s population is very young: 55% of the population is under 20, the highest percentage of any French territory. But that doesn't mean traditions get lost here. Little villages still live in pace with age-old customs and nature reveals a surprise package of flora and fauna.
Did you know that the famous perfume maker Jean-Paul Guerlain used to own a garden here where he grew one of his main raw materials: the ylang-ylang?

Lovely! I've seen many documentaries about Madagascar but this is the first time I've heard about Mayotte. Looks like the perfect mix of peace and beautiful people! Hope I get to visit.

Looks like the Philippines. The deep blue ocean, islands, reefs and fishes to green rain forest to plants and flowers are the same. We have that too in the Philippines. Ha ha ha beware of China you might be mistaken as part of Philippine archipelago. Well the island is music lovers too like the Philippines. It's unfortunate that this beautiful island is one of the many lands in Africa that the brutal French colonial regime invaded, ravaged & annexed. Mayotte belongs to its people not the French.

Not only did the people of Mayotte vote to stay with France, they have a huge issue with illegal immigration from neighboring countries, especially from the Comoros.
