Hoping this is the problem with my washer, noticed last night after it filled with water it wasn’t humming but not spinning and there was a very faint burning smell. Ordered the belts today and will try the repair tomorrow. Thanks for this video! Not many people show how to repair this model of Maytag.

Very helpful video! I had to move my washer to get behind it. Moving the washer around affected the belt position. Once I looked under the washer I seen the belt on the ground. Easy fix, the washer is running like a champ again. Thank you My model number is LAT2500AAE.

Hello Why you open the front panel if the belts are under the machine?

Looked like it gave a little more room for his hands to work as well as access to the motor if necessary

There's a belt guard attached to the front panel which prevent items from entering the belt and pulleys.

Hi My Maytag top-loader (2006) model MAVT446AWW machine does not advance to the Agitate cycle. It stops with a full tub of soapy water. There is slight burning smell (belt?) The belt rotates freely clockwise but not counter clockwise. What could be the issue?

Odor tells me its a belt. Cycle problem tells me its the timer.

This style of washer uses a self tightening drive belt. Make sure that the motor carriage springs are not stretched and that the glides are free of dirt and properly lubricated. If the pump belt is too tight, it will cause the drive belt to be too loose.
