Yep, this happened to mine! The car has been sitting for 2 years until the price of injectors came down in price because if covid tax!!! Just started rebuilding it this week. I had to use a 10mm wood spade drill bit to get the copper washer out as the carbon had welded it in and i needed to use a 10 foot braker bar to remove the naffed injector.

I never owned a car that gave me so many engine problems like skyactiv diesel 2013. First it was carbon buildup in intake manifold and clogged dpf, then camshaft failure, I-ELOOP belt failure, some emissions sensor, turbo problems and I probably forgot a few more. Thank God I sold that car.

If you buy a Honda 2.2 diesel (N22b) you will have a perfect engine but the drivetrain is made of glass, clutch, DMF, just crap 150000km at most and CV axles and DMF failure. Hydro mount goes too. Part prices just as crazy as at Mazda. Dealers "that is neeeeeeever an issue sir". Used to work at Honda Mazda Nissan dealer back in the 00's. Those were cars, many from the 90's in service. So good. Light years away from German competitors.

Thanks for your very informative videos. I was wondering if you think there is a way to understand if the camsharft is worn without removing the engine cover ?! I'm asking because I already did the EGR cleaning, checked the injector at a specialized center that also replaced the washers, did the DPF cleaning without removal using the pressure tube, changed the exhaust diff sensor and MAP sensor and the regeneration still occurs every 70 km in highway and the consumption is 8.5 L/100km (27.6 MPG), therefore I'm suspecting a worn chamsharf. The car is cx-5 AWD 175 hp from 2016 with 165k km.
@MrNiceGuy946 ай бұрын
Hi, there is no other way, but it's not difficult at all. However I still would suspect the injectors, as you may have cavitation erosion present and it's really difficult to test for.

You don't need to use a camera to see which intake valve is open. Use a stick of some type, eg a screwdriver, and poke it thru the oil filler cap hole until it rests on the rocker of the #3 intake. Turn the engine by hand and when the stick goes down the valve is opening. Once the valve is fully opened (turn the engine a couple of times to work out how far the stick goes up and down) then every other intake valve must be closed. Now you can clean 1, 2 and 4. Then repeat on # 2 intake rocker so you can clean # 3.

Technically you are right. But there is room for error and it involves too much hassleing around. I still think that the £30 endoscope is the best option here.

I wouldn't do this without removing the engine. removing the head and chemically cleaning the entire head and intake. Turbo rebuild. Checking crankshaft bearings. All this work can go to waste.

I have the same problem; this car has cost me a fortune in money, time and trouble! My oil pump chain snapped (common apparently) and the engine won't turn by hand, probably/hopefully due to sludge build up. These cars aren't fit for purpose and buyers should be reimbursed as they have so many serious issues. How do you get a manual for the 2.2 diesel please? Mazda don't seem to make available workshop manuals and take down everything they find online.

@@MrNiceGuy94i recon mazdas oil change interval on these is way too long. I drive a diesel honda civic myself and that gets serviced every 10k km even though honda suggests 15000 km. @@alexhickey5633 I believe that I have this same engine in my 2013 cx-5. The previous owner didn't take as much care of this engine as I normally do, anyway, I've had my engine torn down to repair head gasket, changed the exhaust cam shaft and glow plugs, and it works great now. I have at least one more thing to do, which involved changing my fuel injection rail, and that should be it for my engine, since being diligent with my engine, I haven't had a single problem with it. I've learnt that you can't go extended periods w/o changing your oils and really taking care of your car. Your car is an investment that looses value over time, and you, the owner, must care it to get the best out of it. Great video

@@VagaBond_268 no matter how good you take care of these 2.2 diesels they dont hold up well. Even when you fix faults with them, youre still dealing with the same engine, and the same flaws. Head gaskets, injectors and their seals, egr's and camshafts are known problems on these. Just the way they are unfortunately. No. Skyactive Diesel engines are in 3 generations. First generation was from 2008 to 2016. The problems are related to this Generation. In 2016, SH-VPTR and SH-VPTS engines replaced the previous generation and they are completely different. I own a 2017 2.2 D and it has worked for 80K with zero problems
