The popular dual-cab ute segment is in full swing in 2020. Following earlier updates from Toyota, Ford and Isuzu, Mazda has now updated its BT-50 with an all-new, third-generation model. Promising a safer, tech-laden and more refined experience than before, the new BT-50 borrows all of its mechanical parts from the Isuzu D-MAX.

Owned my BT50 XT Cab Chassis 8 weeks and travelled 10,000kms so far. Towed a 1.5 ton dual axle trailer for 5.000 of those miles. Did a mid tough trip across the High Country and it has not missed a beat. Nothing on or off road has troubled it so far. Brilliant fuel economy as well. The Electronic Lane departure technology edges on tooooo dramatic and is annoying that it turns back on each time you start it. Fitted a 180kg canopy so it rides really well. Would highly recommend to anyone and certainly worth a test drive. I really like the build quality as well.

Sun visor issue = dealr breaker. how does something like that gets pass quality control?

I was given a quote for $66k with a gt with a tow bar/ball installed. Dmax was $58990 drive away. I laughed at the Mazda dealer and walked out. Lost a potential customer trying to stitch me up.

The Dmax is cheaper drive away but you’ll be waiting a lifetime for one. The bt50 is only sold in Australia and everyone nit picking it shows that it’s a terrific car with minor annoyances ( like very car)

Got a Thunder for 66k with a tow bar pack. DMax was 61k with the Tow pack.
