It’s not just that they designed it with a REX in mind. There’s an actual ICE version of the MX-30 which they sell in Japan. (Not talking about CX-30)

many people complain that electric cars dont drive like normal ICE cars. The manufacturers that give them what they want i.e. same body, similar performance, without the emissions, they then complain that they are not like an electric car. Cant win.

I think it's disappointing. The Zoe can take 1 more, the Ionic 2 more. Mazda would do better packaging the components into a properly designed body (and preferably not a bloody toy SUV either)

Hello Bjørn, thanks for the video, very nice as usual. I'm curious to know how many hours/week do you work considering all the tasks (preparing the cameras, driving+shooting time, editing, "office" work like contacting PR departments to arrange borrowing cars, answer our comments, etc...). Must be like 60-70h easily so thanks for your hard work spreading EV knowledge

ID.3 is 10 cm shorter (~same hight) and takes +1/+3 banana boxes. Plus has way better efficiency, plus a bigger battery even in the smallest config, plus cheaper base price in that 45kWh config, plus shorter turning circle. That ICE-Conversion of Mazda is just pathetic. Some of the interior is nice though, but really just some details. Not the leather, not the bulky "gear selector", not the tiny Nav screen. And surely not the back "seats", let alone those doors, LOL.

@Bjørn Helt urelatert til denne videoen, men det slo meg at ladestasjonen du brukte i Lyngdal sist er irrelevant om tre fire år fordi veien legges vekk derfra. Det som skjer er at NyeVeier legger opp til stasjoner ala den nyeste CirkleK på E18. Du har ikke vurdert å lage en video om den prosessen og målet til NyeVeier om å lage energistasjoner langs veiene de bygger?

I haven't seen one in the "metal" but it looks bigger than the i3 by quite a bit , is it? It has obviously taken some design cues from the i3 though lol..I don't like the long hood could have been more compact while having more cabin space bit I guess it is ICE derived unlike the i3.

How is the space surprising? This car is the massive 23 cm longer than Kona, 9.5 longer than e-2008. Kona takes the same, the Peugeot - more. Obviously, this car is below average. Mazda wants you to believe this is a small city car but the reality is it's a very badly packaged mid-sized crossover. If a VW polo can have 4 fully-functional doors, so can a 4.4-meter car. I've been watching this car because I was curious if it was going to really turn the disaster it appeared to be. Now I know it is.

Even the Zoe looks in disgust at the Mazda, the Zoe is a true city car and can take 1 more box than the mazda.

the space can take different shapes ... all the cars you mentioned are unpractical for me, i do not have suficient room for me in them , i have around 170kg ... in mazda mx 30 a ride like a king , so until you see all the angels of a situation i think is best not to jump and judge

I am not impressed. A Kia Soul EV from 2017 is 25cm shorter, can pack 5 more boxes and has about the same range.

What a disappointment this car is. Bad range, bad charging speed and wasteful design. There are much better options at that price.

Keep in mind that the same could be said about the Honda Clarity BEV. However, with the Honda Clarity PHEV, it's a very good vehicle, allowing for elimination of emissions in many cases except long distance travel.

If Mazda can maintain fast charging and similar range in the REX version, they very likely will heave created a desirable vehicle to many consumers.

@@thelondonbroiler You call 37 kW peak fast? The e-2008 charges at 100 kW, MG ZS EV at 70-ish. Plus it only has a single phase AC charger. When it comes to the electric drivetrain data, this thing sucks big time. And don't get me started on those stupid doors. Try opening the rear part, when parked next to another car. So much for "city car".

They could have fitted more batteries ! Dont mention Illegal immigrants. Nichola Cranky will have you charged with a "Hate Crime" The seatbelt configuration would make the car unusable for anyone with kids and even rear seat passengers who might want to get in or out without the driver.

That Mazda is an engineering fail. The Rex is supposed to be a Wankel.....known for inefficiency and high repair cost. Weird how difficult it is for Japanese manufacurers to fork out a decent EV.
