So gooooooood and relaxing....😎 Bravo Mark, you perfectly described the soul of this "very different" EV, avoiding that so common mistake they make, evaluating only its limited range. 👏

Had an MX-30 in half a year and driven +12000 km. It's a great car for my purpose. That is our second car that I use for my daily commute and inner city errands. Also have home charger and charging at work so the limited range isn´t a problem. Love it!

Collected mine on the 17/11/23 and delighted with it. Will be charging it at home tonight for the first time, adding to my exploration of it. Very taken with Mazda’s app and the driving experience. Provided you’re a city driver and have a home charger this could be a good option but for others it wouldn’t do at all. For me not having to go to a filling station is a bonus, my mobility now being restricted.

I agree with you the Mazda MX -30 is a lovely car and has plenty of character. A big problem with an EV is finding a charging point after you have arrived at your hotel. There are very few EV chargers in hotels which means up early before the rush to find one nearby.

Since Toyota has the hydrogen fueled Mirai (here in California), i wonder if Mazda is working on a hydrogen car as well for future release. Nice review!

Very good review, plenty to consider. The interior quality and fit is exceptional…. I viewed a Peugeot e2008 and the interior was very poor fit of panels and materials - it looks good but was a deal breaker and off my list, the MX30 however …….

I recently tried one. I liked the looks and equipment and quality but even if the range was acceptable its just too slow. I never imagined that id ever find an EV wheezy, but i did this!

Great review Nobby as ever. Due to the limited range and space inside, it wouldn't be for me but what I noted was most interesting from your review was the future ie in 5 years time which is when I'm planning to trade in my diesel Kadjar hopefully for something else in diesel form but who knows, it'll not be impossible to get an oil burner but I've a feeling I may have to defect from Renault to another brand. I wouldn't say never never to an EV but the initial price plus the range just not being there yet for my needs is what would put me off. I do around 320ish miles a week and post pandemic this may go up so I need an EV that costs no more than £20k will do that range and I only have to charge it once a week for a few hours, I'll concede that much but we're not there yet on the other factors for me.

I'd buy it with a 2.5 liter turbo in it!

The MX moniker is a weird choice considering the fact their little sports car the MX 5 uses it, I think EX-30 (electric crossover) or EC-30 (electric city car) would have made more sense.

I cant understand why its curb weight is 1700kg with smaller batteries and while MG ZS EV is 1500 KG with bigger batteries?

Because the MG isnt built as well, I work in accident repair and when you see the MGs stripped down, you can see they are built down to a price. From steel quality and gauge, through to the plastics the materials are inferior to the Mazda.

Price is up 10000 in 2 years. Remarkable. Its 42K on website. I think Mazda are "stealing" your grant.

I wonder why is that nobody shows what's underneath the bonnet (of EV)? Isn't it supposed to be empty without the engine? Isn't that space is meant for extra boot space?

Not sure what Mazda are thinking with this car . Like most people my car has to do everything I want a car to do . Short local journeys, 600+ miles in a day journeys, only me or 4 others journeys, estate car fully loaded for the tip or bringing stuff back from diy warehouse journeys. My Accord tourer does the lot , with not a ridiculous touchscreen in sight .

shame mazda are still clinging on to old tech like that menu wheel selector..i had one on my 2007 civic lol, the dials look dated, and the main sat nav screen ancient and small, and tbh alot of petrol cars have the app to send destinations from the mobile to the car

Used BMW i3 (First version) quite long time and changed to this car recently. Driving range, no issue for me because the 1st version of i3 had even shorter range. Bigger, and also nice looking. Overall, I'm satisfied. Just one thing. It's not that fast(0-100km) unlike other EVs.

I share with you my experience after 6 months driving a MX30, and not just test-driving it for a few hours, MX30 is absolutely a very gorgeous car, inside-out with outstanding finishing quality and very comfortable and pleasant to drive. BUT WHAT A SHAME!!! Technically as an EV, MX30 is useless! When the temperature drops to freezing point or even near, driving range on the highway drops to 110KM (140KM off highway) and worst is the charging time, it takes over 3 hours (in cold weather) to recharge the battery on a CCS 50KW/h charging station and not 45 minutes as announced by Mazda! You need to stop 3 hours at a fast charging station to be able to drive less than one hour!

The app was and still is terrible!
