That “UH HUH UH HUH UH HUH” noise in the beginning is the laser “Wewew” sound, it’s just heightened pitch and sped up! 😁

Every sound has to come from the mouth, that’s the rule. But the loop stations these guys are using are top of the industry, they can edit sounds on the fly. So these guys can edit any sound as long as it’s raw from the mouth.

The Rc-505 has different input and output FX like filters, phasers, pitch bends, etc. that you can use in conjunction with your voice. That's how saro gets the "dubstep" effects :)

Dont know if you know this by now, but this Loopstation (RC-505) is actually a Loopstation made especially for beatboxers

This was when the MK1 was the pro tech, it could live mess with intonation, gain, and reverb however was still analog based so there was no compute assist built in so took insane skill in timing/dex and pitch to get the right sound live. As of 2023 MK2 and MK3 are widely available so the intonation is still needed but less and planning is still required but specific sequences can be resolved with a large margin of error, though still difficult.

They use the loop stations to modulate their voice and make is sound different but Saro’s drums are all 100% pure voice

You can add special effects on your mouthmade sounds too. So he made normal sounds and mix them with effects or transform the sounds^^

Autotune is not really used on these rounds but some sounds are altered with yes by changing the pitch sometimes but not often and also some effects like reverb and like Mb14 used something called layering im not 100% sure if reverb is used in this battle but i know many of them use it, and putting a beat over on a metronom beat is not allowed it basically means that everything gets put in perfect sync by the loopstation without them really having to do much. Suprisingly enough a beatboxer called rythmind used it in the finals against NME and won

That thing you referred to as an amp/compressor thing with the green tape on it is nothing more than a DI box. It takes the line level outputs from the loopstarion and brings them down to mic level to be sent to the sound system/mixing console.

You should totally invest into a loopstation because you don't have to be the best beatboxer to be a good looper. I got my loopstation not too long ago and I started learning beatbox as I got my loopstation and I've been able to do some covers.
