Sathyan Anthikad is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and lyricist best known for his family dramas in Malayalam cinema.
Sathyan has created many critical and commercially successful films, especially when working with Sreenivasan as the scriptwriter. Sathyan made his debut with the 1982 film Kurukkante Kalyanam. His popular films include T. P. Balagopalan M.A., Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam, Gandhinagar 2nd Street, Nadodikkattu, Pattanapravesham, Ponmuttayidunna Tharavu, Varavelpu, Artham, Mazhavilkavadi, Kalikkalam, Sasneham, Sandesam, My Dear Muthachan, Santhanagopalam, No. 1 Snehatheeram Bangalore North, Thooval Kottaram, Irattakuttikalude Achan, Veendum Chila Veettukaryangal, Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal, Yathrakarude Sradhakku, Manassinakkare, Achuvinte Amma, Rasatanthram, Oru Indian Pranayakadha, and Njan Prakashan . Sathyan's films have won 5 Kerala State Film Awards, and Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam at the 48th National Film Awards. He also won 2 Filmfare Awards for Best Director for Thooval Kottaram and Manassinakkare.
Actors Mohanlal, Sreenivasan and Jayaram embodied the typical Sathyan Anthikkad protagonist in most of the films. On the other hand, Sathyan Anthikad had tried making movies in different genres as well but because of their lower success rate at the box-office, he hasn't pursued to make more of them. Some of his such films include Pappan Priyappetta Pappan, Samooham, Pingami and Oral Mathram with the exception being Artham which was a commercial success at the box-office.
Sreenivasan is an Indian film actor, screenwriter, director and producer who works predominantly in Malayalam films. He has also appeared in a few Tamil films.
Sreenivasan has starred in over 200 films. He is most popular for his comedy oriented performances. Sreenivasan wrote the screenplay for films such as Odaruthammava Aalariyam, Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam, Gandhinagar 2nd Street, Nadodikkattu, Pattanapravesham, Varavelpu, Thalayanamanthram, Sandesam, Mazhayethum Munpe, Azhakiya Ravanan, Oru Maravathoor Kanavu, Udayananu Tharam, Katha Parayumpol, and Njan Prakashan among which the latter is one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films of all time. He has won two Kerala State Film Awards for Best Screenplay, for Sandesam and Mazhayethum Munpe.
As a writer and actor, he has frequently collaborated with directors such as Priyadarshan, Sathyan Anthikad and Kamal. As a filmmaker, he scripted and directed Vadakkunokkiyanthram and Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala. While Vadakkunokkiyanthram won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Film, Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala won the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues and Best Popular Film Award at the 29th Kerala State Film Awards. He co-produced Katha Parayumpol and Thattathin Marayathu under the banner Lumiere Film Company, along with actor Mukesh.
Benny P. Nayarambalam is an Indian screenwriter who works in Malayalam films and theatre. He wrote his first theatrical play Athyunnathangalil Deivathinu Sthuthi at the age of 19, for the production company owned by Rajan P. Dev, in which he also performed as Rajan's son. He has a post-graduate degree in Malayalam literature. He made his debut in films as screenwriter through First Bell, directed by P. G. Viswambharan.
Benny had a successful career as a screenwriter, with most of his films turning into blockbusters. And two of his theatre plays Vikalanga Varsham and Arabikkadalum Adbudavilakkum were made into films, Kunjikoonan and Chanthupottu respectively. In Chanthupottu, Dileep and Lal played the roles Benny and Rajan P. Dev portrayed in the original play.
