Hello dr mcdougall. I am a conservative christian truck driver from oklahoma. Since meat eating was allowed and even prescribed in the old testament, i had dismissed veganism. But in the garden, or the more perfect state, there was no meat consumption, so maybe God later allowed it since food might be scarce. Anyway, i try to follow truth wherever it leads and it seems in your life so have you. I respect you for that and i think you may be on to something. Your defense of the historical starch diet makes perfect sense to me. Your medical explanation about MS and autoimmunity was quite compelling. I will play that video for my wife when i get home. She has sarcoidosis and i have hashimotos. The last 2 weeks on the road ive been eating grits for breakfast and beans, rice, mashed potatoes or corn for dinner. I dont even miss meat. Ive moved my belt notch to #6 for the 1st time in years. After watching your video my brother and sister in law are adopting your diet. Thank you dr for standing up to the absolute evil in the medical system. God bless you, sir!

The old school Southern diet -- lots of seasonal veggies slow cooked and eaten with beans, rice, and potatoes is easy to accomplish as long as you leave out the dairy and fat. It's easy to make low fat and delicious cornbread. I have discovered that smoked paprika and garlic will season your greens as well as any kind of sidemeat. Grits with okra and corn and tomatoes have replaced grits with fried eggs and bacon. I'm never hungry and am slowlyand steadily losing weight even though I am still not 100 percent perfect. Hang in there!!! Just as an aside, the traditional Biblical diet is based largely on grains, veggies, fruits, and legumes. Meat was reserved for high holy days. Even people in the middle East now eat lots of veggies for breakfast. Hummus and salad is a typical Israeli breakfast!!

Good on you! People don't think about how God didn't change human biology in any way after they got kicked from the Garden. Humans have always been, and still are, herbivores. You could almost think of it like a challenge from a parent to His children. We were naughty so we were kicked out of the house. We had some rough few thousand years but we made it. Now we've grown up enough that we have the ability and opportunity to make a home very similar to what we had before. We could make a similar Garden and live once again on the beautiful bounty we were always meant to eat.

And also the Daniel diet is vegetarian ,isn't it? I had the exact same response. If it's in the bible, it's ok. Fasting is good. But maybe there's good better and best.

I haven't consumed dairy for 50 years. My Doc told me I'd develop osteoporosis. At 68, so far so good - perfectly normal bones. I gave up animal products over a dozen years ago. I get my blood drawn every year - all measurements in the normal range and I don't have to take any "elderly-medications". BMI is 23. I eat a whole food plant based diet i.e., McDougall's plan and many of Mary's recipes. I eat whenever I am hungry and eat until I am satiated. I am perfectly healthy. I never diet. Think about it - do cows drink cows milk? No, they don't. Humans are the only being that consumes the lactations of a different species. None of the grazing mammals of earth - giraffe's, hippos, chimpanzees, deer & elk, elephants, mice, etc. consume milk of any species after weaning. This is a great lifestyle!

@@sis_yd_jesuschrist Well I did eat the typical Western diets for 51 years and went plant based almost overnight. You'll find it easier to make your own meals. I do have the odd bit of processed vegan food but most stick to a whole food plant based diet. In the early days I did eat something which I shouldn't have, just read the labels and don't stress if you have the odd mishap. Eating out is getting easier in general (obviously not atm) Good luck on your journey, I have never regretted my decision. Returning to watching McDougall lectures after what's been a while, I remember why I found watching them so healing, not just from the physical perspective - if their conclusions are applied. I find them healing to watch because they're a source of truth and because Dr. McDougall is so inspiring in the way he fights for the truth. He's a rebel and a truth teller and I find the presence of rebels and truth tellers most comforting of all when I feel like I'm lost. To be around, be it just in thought, someone who knows what's what and who's not afraid to say it, and to be around someone I can learn from, and who reminds me just how great of a contribution one individual can make to this world, it fills me with feelings of hope. And there's so much love in his communication, love for those whose wellbeing he's tried to save - humans and animals alike - such clear constant displays of love for his family, love for his heroes, love for the planet. So much respect for this man. Wish I could even be 1% of the person he is. Thank you Dr. McDougall.

I have gone to a whole food plant-based diet and I'm trying to get my diabetes under control I've gone off all my diabetes meds and had to start adding back because I was getting too high around 4 and 500 so I added insulin back still getting high so I added a glimepiride back now I have to work harder to see what's going on. Thank you for all your videos they're really helping.

The Danish researcher is Mikkel Hindhede - and the Danes experienced better health during the 1940’s because of lack of the rich foods. People had to eat less protein and less rich foods and got healthier

Thank you it’s a great lecture and so very inspiring. It has helped me a lot. It healed my microbiome after I had had been treated with much too much penicillin because of a lot of infection as a child - and then severe migraines. I was healed from a low fat low salt macrobiotic rice, millet, buckwheat and cooked vegetables -but I did not know the science behind until now. I am so greatfull, but wish I had known much earlier. 🙏🏻🎵🌺🎶♥️

Hi doctor, can you give me advice on your stroke? I had a stroke in July of 2021 and now I’m following a plant diet. Thank you! I have sweet potatoes every morning for breakfast.

My high protein diet has led me to osteoporosis now. It's hard to overcome and have experienced many bone breaks. The important thing now is to eat properly, and do the exercises necessary to strengthen my bones. Thank you Dr. McDougall for all this great information.

I've read and there's very good scientific evidence for performing strength training, which builds both muscle and bone.

When my kids were small, I was extremely poor. We lived on a plant based diet Potatoes, greens, beans, cornmeal, biscuits and rice. It's all we could afford. I had trouble qualifying for WIC as my kids were too healthy. In fact after getting WIC as a "prevention" against malnourishment my kids tests were worse. We eventually got qualified for food stamps. The only meat we ate is if it went on a major markdown.

I have not heard Dr McDougall speak about the importance of keeping a 4 to 1 ratio of omega 6 to omega 3s. Chesapeake Urology uses that ratio to successfully treat prostate cancer. It slows down the cancer significantly.

Have a look at McDougall's videos on potatoes (& starch). Very informative and helpful. I have been vegan for many years. I take a vegan B12 and iron supplement twice a week. Hope this helps.

Im trying to remember the two amino acids that are sulfuric and acidic on the body that Dr McDougall mentions in here. Was it L-Methionine & L-Cysteine? Thank you! :)

I have been feeling pretty good lowering my protein recently. I feel best on high carbohydrate (easily digestible forms) and moderate fat.

I’ve been a vegetarian for over 50 years and have used Diet for a Small Planet as a guide for combining foods to get complete protein from plant sources. I don’t know if it’s right or wrong but there it is.

It is really difficult to really pay attention to your powerful video, when it is interrupted every 5 minutes by ads. Even worse, is that these ads are full of products you would never want people to consume. What a shame.

I agree. There is so much missinformation, and everyone is an expert, that we are left to decide and figure it out alone what could be right and what could be wrong. And we pay for following the wrong experts with our health and ultimately lives.

Love love love this presentation. But the lie the myth continues to run rampant in this world despite decades of hard work Dr. McDougall and a list of his fellow medical professionals. We who have learned the truth must carry on the good fight by spreading the truth as much as we can.
