You were close its a 93. Though this station now has a 2016 peterbuilt tanker in service now. That one will go to the county as a reserve.

wouldn't it be easier if they had their gear with them since this is a volunteer station and they can get to the apparatus and go?
@marcoh.34677 жыл бұрын
here in Germany 95% of the fire fighter's are volunteers and oure gear is hanging I in the fire station because you never know where you are when the alert comes... otherwise your trunk is full with your gear or you have to drive home at first to put on the stuff.

Just wondering whether anybody knows what this incident was, or the nature of the incident that would warrant such a curious (to me anyway) response as an engine, a tanker and a heavy rescue. As a Brit, I can't think of an incident in the UK that would merit a turnout such as this - apart from a possible make-up (assistance) request from the scene of a working fire. But that's probably because we do things differently to our American counterparts. And just to let all you sad, nasty, desperate trolls know, when I said "differently", I didn't mean better! As if that's gonna help me!!!
@kylegallagher85458 жыл бұрын
+YelpBullhorn our SOPs require the rescue to respond. Basically they are dispatched as a man power piece on calls where there are no hydrants.
@markooven-rivera21618 жыл бұрын
So this was a house fire non hydrant area
@fyremanjef2 жыл бұрын
Could have been a box assignment. 5 engines. 2 trucks 1 rescue squad. Non hydrated areas get tankers on the initial alarm.
@Stargazzer8112 жыл бұрын
Since this is a volunteer department, they are probably in a township or mostly rural area. Those areas lack hydrants the further from downtown you get, which explains the tanker getting toned. As for the rescue, they would be handling search and rescue duties on scene for a working fire, which is sometimes handled by truck co's unless a rescue co is available. Given the type of rigs taken I'd say that this was probably a confirmed working fire.

Oh yeah, isn't that water just the tank's overflow? In Britain, you used to be able to "track" fire engines by watching for the water trails at junctions and roundabouts, particularly with Dennises. Unfortunately, Scanias don't do it. And yes, trolls and thick-f*cks, that is how you spell the plural of Dennis!

I believe when the fireman hit a button the water comes out of the tanker and In the big orange bag which allows the firefighters to put there hoses in and get water to fight a fire

What does 13Box mean?
@Stargazzer8112 жыл бұрын
Fire Box 13. Dispatch probably didn't receive a call-in for the fire, it was probably reported via fire alarm or an old school fire alarm box. Its where the term Box Alarm comes from in the fire service. On a Box Alarm call, most departments send 2-3 engine companies, 2 ladder companies, 1 rescue squad, and sometimes 1-2 EMS depending on standard procedure, plus a battalion chief. This is because when a fire is detected by alarms or reported via a fire alarm/fire alarm box, the nature of the fire usually isn't entirely known, so the department sends the minimum number of rigs and people they need to ensure the fire is safely contained. Usually the 1st Due units will run an assessment of the fire upon arrival and if it warrants, the battalion chief or next senior officer on the scene will call to dispatch and tell them to "strike a 2nd (or 3rd, or 4th, or 5th) alarm," at which point an addition alarm will go off at the next closest fire stations and they will respond to the scene.

Alarm was to assist Station 13 in Damascus, MD., the neighboring district to the north. Box alarm usually means some type of structure fire.
