McGrath is the one who started it. If you want to sledge, take the response like a man instead of being a crybaby and playing the victim card. That's always the case with most Australian cricketers. They abuse everyone first and if they get a response they start crying although Tim Paine's team isn't that bad.

McGrath was a great bowler but with poor sportsmanship. That’s why I will always rate Wasim Akram as the greatest bowler over the past 30 years, because not only was he a fantastic bowler to watch, but he was a gentleman of the game. He didn’t need to shout verbal volleys at batsman. He also smiles a lot.

Stever Rayner The thing you dont understand is, is that McGrath started it by saying to Sarwan about Lara. I thought that Sarwan made a good comeback with "ask your wife" about Lara, and his 100!!! He certainly let his bat do the talking. Sarwan didn't say anything about Jane's (Glenn's wife's) condition. At least he had some respect. With Glenn, he was always walking into the batsmen's path (while the batsmen were running between wickets - generally of the batsman who made the scoring shot off Glenn's bowling at the time.) Glenn would do so, as he didn't like getting scored off, and couldn't get the person out. So McGrath was just a Pussy!!!

A number of reasons the main one being forced to choose between the local first class season (required to be selected for the test season and the coinciding T20 leagues. I cannot condemn you however since many West Indians (including seleciors) have bought into that storyline. Sad Really!

If you do not believe me compare their first class stats to many players currently on the test team.it is for this reason in addition to injury concerns why pace bowler Shannon Gabriel has chosen to stay away from the T20 format altogether!

Still watching in 2019, I very well remember this match, it was the last match of the four test match series right after 2003 world cup. Australians were on top of the world back then and it was almost impossible to beat them during that time, but still they were losing that match to West Indies and they were unable to digest this fact hence they came up with their old weapon, Sledging.

While I loved McGraths skill and swagger with the ball and appreciate his off-field work today there was this dark underbelly of sledging and insulting opponents and crying wolf when it was turned back his way. Hypocritical Aussie attitude of that all-powerful team. This from a cricket fanatic who loves cricketers from around the planet not just India. Some of my favorite players of all time are Waugh, Lee, Punter etc.

Not unique to Australia. All through cricket when a team is on top of the world for a long time, arrogance can set in. (Some exceptions. The great Windies teams always had swagger and confidence but I don't recall any true ugly arrogance from them). Cricket used to be a gentleman's game where being a good sport was considered very important. Most sports saw that gradually change as winning became all that mattered.

Till the time MC grath was doing it fine. As soon as Sarwan replied he got furious.... This was the problem with the entire Australian team that era...they would react as if they are dictators... Then came team India and the innings of VVS Laxman of 281 to show them the mirror followed by Chennai test Victory by team India . Post that retained Border Gavaskar trophy in Australia and then again in 2008-2009 beat them in best of 3 finals in Australia and beat them in Perth post Sydney test where monkey gate happened..... Indian team has always shown them that if you think that you are unbeaten then we know how to put you on mat and make you bite the dust

This was one of the best 100s I saw growing up- i was 15 at the time, after all the verbals he took on the Australian juggernaut and overcame them to set Windies up for a great win. Chanderpaul's hundred in this innings was a beauty too, cs he just snuck up on the aussies, still attacked them hard but u didn't even notice he was approaching a 100..
