I often think it's better not to win, but rather build a fan base while on the show. You often never hear of the winner again, but many great careers have been born on Idol.

You never hear of the winner again? Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Jordin Sparks come to mind. Jordin Sparks has had great success as a song writer and was on Broadway in The Heights and Waitress. As you say, there are others who were NOT winners, and some even turned away that have been very successful. Amber Riley never even made it to the show and she was fabulous on Glee and was in the West End production of Dream Girls, Jennifer Hudson has been very successful and I think she was like 7th, and we cannot forget Adam Lambert, just an amazing singer and entertainer. There have been many others who have achieved different levels of success. The ones that I think we never see again with a very few exceptions is The Voice.

This and the one performance before this one were 2 of her worst ones. She's a good singer and unique voice but she's pretty much stayed the same the whole show. Always a slow softer song at a piano and that gets boring. Even Abi has realized she needs to work the crowd more. KB should have stayed over her.

with her familiar husky/hoarse lower register, emotes well. Her voice so addictive, all the cricks, crackles, almost-squalls. This wasn't easy for her, but she brought it home.

Im so glad they kept her! She is great. That being said, please use every asset GOD gave you just like Abi did tonight, pick songs that show what you can do and be bold. The stage is your friend, the power and uniqueness of her voice needs to come out and it didnt in this one nor the last but it surely did in Hawaii when she strummed that guitar. Pat Benatar was perfect for her, come out of that shell and wake them/us up MCKENNA! She has it and can do this, up to her. Have FAITH in yourself as we fans do in you.

That was really beautiful! I felt every word McKenna sang. Perfect song choice for her as well. I loved that! She's got a raspy and scratchy voice that I really love. She reminds me of a mix of Joni and Stevie. She's a star. This was also her best performance!

She has a unique voice and a good voice, but she unlike other constants hasnt really gotten any better/stronger vocally yet everyone else has improved every new show. Infact her last few performances although not bad weren't as good as her early times. She has also basically done the same slowish song at a piano way to much and needs to work the crowd more. KB was killng it way more the last few shows.

Nice save. Another reason to watch the show for one more week. It should have been one of the country people out because it's not American Country Idol even though that's what it's turning out to be every freaking year. Every couple years, the winner is a guy with a guitar who sings country.

In order to win, she needs to cover instantly recognizable standards like she did with "The Story", or "Both Sides Now". Blue Eyes Cryin' In the Rain, I Fall To Pieces, Blue Bayou, The Sound of Silence, The First Time Ever..., and so on are perfect for Mckenna's voice. Idol producers give great songs to choose from to those they hope will win. Great singers, Mckenna, is a great singer, don't get quite the choice of others. But a couple others (not to be named), seem to be who producers want in the final 3.

McKenna, I knew your Mom well. I booked her and Derick for lots of gigs in Bisbee. I know Amy is smiling. Every time you sing I see Amy in you. This has honestly been a rough week on Idol. Kayko was eliminated after his “Teenage Dirtbag” performance (which resulted in the crowd erupting with applause); Kaibrienne (who has had a couple well-done performances) was eliminated; and now McKenna ended up in the bottom two? This concerns me how the season will end. Hopefully McKenna can bounce back.

She sounds the best when she sings Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now. My suggestions for her would be to stick to Joni Mitchell one more time. sing "A Case of You". Just slow-tempo, depressive kind of songs that do not require belting would be her lane. I am thinking Lana del Rey, Weyes Blood, Phoebe Bridgers.
