Jay Leno is one of the few people I enjoy watching for expensive car reviews. You can feel his purist love for cars. It's not about status for this man; it's about passion.

Exactly, I noticed that other reviewers love to show off they're luxury cars and say how much they cost and spent on them. But when I watch Jay Leno do it, he makes me feel like I'll be able to buy one someday. I actually learn about the car and appreciate the little details

Hey Jay, (or whoever is reading this) As a kid, I remember watching the McLaren F1 on 5th Gear. I was in love with a car for the first time in my life. There wasn't a sound on my computer that wasn't made by a McLaren F1. I dreamed of that car. I woke up to the sound of the car starting. As I grew up (don't ever grow up kids, wisdom can be had without growing up) I lost that dream. I did dream of owning a Corvette C5, and I worked hard to make that a reality. Now that I think about it, I should never have lost my first dream. I might have been able to obtain it. Anyway, Jay, your video here re-ignited a spark, and brought back memories of me as a kid. So, thank you Jay. Thank you for not growing up. :) Allen.

You know, it's interesting to read your post. As a kid, I was into old Mopars, and could only afford the (lowly) 318 cars and the non-muscle car examples of Mopars. I finally got a 1970 Dodge Super Bee, 383 (nothing special, your basic muscle car), and the body was so damaged that it dog hopped down the road, it was in primer, the quarter panel was hit so hard it didn't even look like a Super Bee but it ran like a champ. I now have a watered down compromise of a Mopar: (just) a 1973 Road Runner, but... It's fine because it's not $50K, it was a few thousand. I do kind of regret not having a full on 1970 Dodge Super Bee Hemi car. I'm old and have worked all my life. I deserve it! Thanks for the motivation. I think, retirement gift to myself?

daniel zychniewicz Ben and Jerry’s was commissioned to produce the engine. They worked with BMW and it was decided that it would be under the BMW name to avoid confusion. The exhaust fumes actually smell like ice cream and some components are made of chocolate, which helped reduce the weight. You actually have to send it to Ben and Jerry’s headquarters in Vermont before they send it to the UK for servicing through McLaren. It’s a crazy story but it’s worth looking into

Mr. Leno is mostly right. Every single part was designed to be fitted exclusively to a F1. With the exception of the tail lights, which were supplied from a BOVA coach. The Bovas were called "the fastest bus in the world" because of that. Jag XJ220 had some Rover tail lights, but bus lights in a 391km/h machine? The Bova itself was a pretty good bus, Mercedes diesel engine - 15 liters with 290 horsepower, capable of almost 10 million kilometres (there are some coaches from 1990 for sale with 8 million or more in good condition)

***** yes, he toasted it because they didn't use launch controll and the stig is much better at launching a car then richard hammond. If they used launch controll the F1 would have no change. Interestingly enough, if the drag was any longer the Veyron would reach it's top speed of 360 km/h and the Mclaren would keep going to the 370. This is because Bugatti's top speed in normal mode isn't 400 km/h, the car isn't as aerodynamic and it can't get to be as fast as a mclaren f1.

Hay Jay I was Wondering if you ever make it into the comment section? Me and my family love the show very much! As a lot of people say You are such a humble man and it shows through with your Passion very much! Love your MoParr collection my father had a 1968 Dodge Charger RT 440 magnum with the Hurts Pistol grip 4 speed manual! Which I might add my dad still kicking himself for getting rid of! Well that's enough of my rambling I sure love your show and can't wait to see more thanks again Jay.

An absolute beast. This and the F40 are the real beasts. I see the Veyron as science and they really do not interest or excite me. This, the F40 and the Diablo are so much more fun to listen too and to look at/experience. No driver aid. All in your hands!

The current La Ferrari is also very nice, but this has a claim to the top spot, greatest car ever, that's hard to deny. Ford say they intend to take their latest GT to Le Mans. Good, I approve. If they win outright, and do that 3 years in a row, with a car that's pretty much the same engine and chassis as their road car, and it goes on in private hands to be the rig to beat for another 5 years or so, while being hailed by one and all as the greatest driver's car on the planet, and the fastest production car ever, then they'll match what McLaren did. For much of my adult life, this has been the ultimate car. I'd like a Veyron, if somebody gave it to me, but I'd much rather have one of these.

***** The problem with cars today is that they don't feel as organic as cars like the McLaren F1 or Ferrari F40. They have power steering, and ABS, and traction control, and paddle shifters, and other things that can detract from the driving experience. Personally, if I had to choose between the F1 and a modern hyper car, I'd probably choose the modern one, but I still understand why some people prefer older cars.

The only supercar I ever sat in: About '67 I sat in one of the couple of Ford GTs that were built for the street when it was at the Ford dealer who'd facilitated the deal for someone in Detroit. British racing green, RHD, and so cool. That's all I can tell you about it.

Jay can post as many McLaren videos as he wants, I will watch them all. This car really does it for me. I'm a 90's kid pushing 40, and this car was THE CAR of my era, the true epitome of all things great about sports cars or supercars. And to this day, it is still pleasing to a guy from my era or older, because it is small, sporty, perfectly and meticulously designed, AND it has A MANUAL GEARBOX! For us old guys, paddle shifters take all the fun out of it. There is nostalgia in that physical feeling of going through the gears. Morcyclists will understand this because they still use manual gearboxes and that will likely not change; but what if they put out a superbike that lacked manual gears? The enthusiasts would hate it. That is how I feel about paddle shifters.

+capoman1 Well said even driving a cheap econo slow car is fun when a stick shift is included. So what a paddel shift will get faster lap times bla bla bla.The feeling of pulling gears is exlirating.I drive motorcycles and would never drive a quick shift bike ,just something/ so much lost when the vehicle is in more control than the driver. All the driver aids are great but nothing like scareing the 5hit out of your self now and them LOL.Im A guy just shy of 50 and miss when cars were basic and real men drove untamed beasts, now even bad drivers can go fast.
