@ Chez: really great point on the Lando quote from '21. Winning consistently requires more than a quick car. There are many critical factors; driver and team, that need to work seamlessly.

I love you two! Quality people with considered things to say, always. McLaren are definitely a bit green at the moment and it might take quite a few more mistakes and missed opportunities to get their package to 100%. Now that the argy-bargy from Austria is a bit further away in the memory and it looks like maybe Max and Lando can race fair, they need to tighten the screws on the strategy and probably cultivate self-trust and confidence through practice and iterations on new experiences at the front of the grid. They'll then be up and away (more) reliably.

Its not just that they haven't had the experience battling at the front (where errors are more consequential, and more obvious!), its that the upgrades have given them new options because updated MCL36 is, in some conditions, so good on tires--perhaps too many viable options. In such a circumstance its in fact easier to get strategy wrong versus when you have fewer.

Think a missed area to talk about is car SET UP. Don’t think Lando and Oscar’s set up was in a way to protect the front left and although the were quick, they had way more deg. We also don’t know how much Merc were pushing vs managing the gap. Max drove great but even on the team radio after the race he stated that his front left was shot due to pushing every lap. Hats off to Merc driver and strategy working as a well oiled machine

Max's overtake on Lando was just to easy. Lando had just gotten onto those tires, so for Max to past him without him putting up a fight was just strange.

It’s good strategy. If you think your tires will last, then why waste time fighting instead of chasing down the leader? Use the faster car to pull you forward as well. Max did the same earlier in the race too.

@@f.kieranfinney457 The soft tire is usually faster than the hard. Lando should have been able to keep Max behind him for many more laps before he let Max pass him.

I think those softs were dying Partly because Lando just didn’t have the same sympathy bringing them in as Lewis or Max on his hards and partly because it was not durable enough The mistake was to not go onto the mediums

Phenomenal win by Lewis. I'm a Red Bull fan and have been for nigh 18 years, but this last handful of races have been great for the sport. Thrilled to watch the next 12 races with my F1 posse, who are fans of a variety of teams.

I really look forward to your sessions. What is clearer to me now is how difficult it is to win even with a great car. 2023 was amazing. McClaren and Ferrari need to quit complaining about Red Bull/Max, and focus on excellence. RB needs to swap out Perez. And Mercedes has to keep making upgrades and focus on excellence. What a year. I will enjoy watching the story lines with my wife on Netflix next year.

F1 2024 has become a season of opportunities, changes and challenges. Of first times and no time left. Of true winners mentality and learnering how to win. Of a Champion that has finally been freed of doubt and a Champion that never has any doubts. I hope you guys will do a mid season review and or a preview of the rest of the season. With all the movement of engineers and drivers it will be super interesting.

Epic fashion? Look I will not take any praise away from Hamiltons win in England but we must not get carried away. Ham had not many obstacles to overcome. From second to first was easy for him with Russel falling away and the McLarens going backwards in the end. If you want to apply EPIC in this race you could pin that on a drive by a driver that outdrove his unwilling car on tires that refused to turn on until the last set finally worked. A driver that had fallen back to six’s place through all kinds of technical malheur but worked his way back in great fashion to second place at 1,4 secs of a win. That is Epic. But ok I agree the fairytale tears were also epic.

Max excuse is same for all drivers, max still has the best car, they're still driving the 22 regulations car and nothing has been changed or added. Teams are bringing updates to every race as much as they can, Max not getting the tires to work is racetrack specific. He fell back because he wanted to be safe as he couldn't risk it in the wet. He wanted to race safe and did so in the dry. If If If he had changed Tyres 1lap earlier maybe he could have won. Hamilton race for the win in both dry and wet sections and tried to be 3 seconds from the lead car. Max still has the hypersonic car of 2023 modified.

@@angelscakes4678the fact that you said that means you don’t have the understanding to be able to identify anything on a technical level. If you actually knew anything you’d be searching through the long run data’s to get a good idea. And max wasn’t saving for first stint he was literally pushing as much as his car allowed him while keeping tires deg low. Hamilton and Norris was doing the same their cars were just faster. On different tire set after rain max pushed as hard as could and made up ground coz lando and Lewis tires were fading. Your narrative is pathetic and it’s just a futile attempt at belittling someone’s incredible effort. If giving max credit makes your fav drivers achievements look small in your eyes then that’s a you problem.
@angelscakes4678
@angelscakes4678 Ай бұрын
@@Greatgoku4 when you don't win, you make an excuse, if Max had not run off during qualifying he would have been higher up, the conditions made it so. He said they knew that they were faster on the hard after FP3, so why the excuses? The wet conditions applied to every driver and adaptation was all they did. They remained the same drivers in a different racetrack. You just making an excuse like he was in a Haas car. Good players still misses penalty, it doesn't mean they have lost their skills. Max drove his best and it wasn't good enough to win the Race, if there was no Hamilton he would have won it. Period.

Shouldn’t we start talking about what has happened to RBR? The car has gone from absolutely dominant to barely 3rd fastest and incredibly difficult to drive. Did Newey screw it up by radically changing this car? Is the infighting so bad they not only couldn’t agree on the obvious choice of Carlos Sainz but are considering brining Daniel back? W.T.F?Screw the feelings of the dads. RB NEED a better driver than anyone available in their stable. (They should have hired Nico when he was available). I hope Liam kills his test.

Lewis feels entitled to win. I see his emotions as self-aggrandizing narcissism. He has the most wins in history and yet somehow thinks he deserves more. Wanting is different. Nico wants to win. Lewis NEEDS it. Sad. He drove the fastest car from the front row. Why is he driver of the day? Utter nonsense.

They’ve been struggling because of James. He designed the 2022 car before he left. They’re benefiting from the additional wind tunnel time that benefits slower teams. And RB are hurting from the same. It’s taken too long to call James a savior. Mercedes has started to fix the little process things they used to ignore. That’s where winning begins.
