Although some cops get fired for various reasons, they are much less likely to be fired for misbehavior than are employees in private business who commit similar misbehavior. In Texas, it is easy for private businesses to fire employees, unlike cops who often receive mild discipline instead of being fired.

Nobody should agree with the chief’s decision. In fact, the chief should be charged with accessory after the fact to the theft of service the officer’s were involved in. Flat out, the officers were involved in criminal actions.
