Bradley Beach, New Jersey - On November 9, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., the Bradley Beach Police Chief Leonard Guida showed up unexpectedly to a traffic accident on Main Street, where the driver was later charged with DWI. The chief was not in uniform and dressed casually, and the sergeant, William Major said he was “drunk again," according to the report. The police chief tried to take the Sgt. Major away from the scene to criticize him for wearing a jacket with peeling police lettering. In the footage, the chief is heard saying, "Why do you got a jacket on that's not fit to be worn?"
The chief and sergeant ended up on the hood of a patrol car during the altercation, with someone heard saying, "You grabbed me." Sgt. Major is also heard on video saying, "He's drunk again ... Chief, get out of here or you are going to get locked up." The chief then is heard telling Sgt. Major he's relieving him of his duties, saying, "You're suspended." Sgt. Major was later allowed to resume his full job responsibilities. After the Monmouth County Prosecutor Office's investigation, Guida was placed on paid administrative leave. His position as chief pays a salary of $202,500, according to state pension records.

I'm no confucianist, but one of the aspects I admire is that a part of the "always respect your superiors" is that sometimes they are in the wrong and the most respectful thing to do is to set them straight. In practice, that always gets set aside, of course.

He is now retired, with his pension. Looking into him a little and turns out there was a LOT of problems with this particular cop, from racial profiling, to a heap of drunken incidents to even purposefully destroying a cops career prospects because he questioned the guy's behaviour on the job. The only real fallout from this was the mayor who helped the ex-chief try and hid it all from the city council lost his position through a vote of non-confidence.

You can tell the sergeant does not respect the chief or he definitely would have not slammed him like that. Chief needs to piss off he is not working he is embarrassing the sergeant in front of everyone picking fault with his jacket, it's just not the way to do it. You call him into the office when you have not been drinking and you're at work. Then you call him into the office and have a quiet word with him about his jacket no big deal. It's one of those where office politics will determine whether you get thrown to the wolves or exonerated. My guess is the chief has rivals or enemies, who see this as an opportunity to get rid of him so they can take his job. If was on friendly terms with the top brass, they'd just sack the Sgt Major without a second thought and keep the status quo.

Chile 😳....That police chief was way out of line. Showing up drunk at an active police DWI crash investigation. Then, harrassing one of his own officers that was working the accident. The police chief abused his authority and he lacks integrity and accountability. He's definitely one of the bad apples people speak of. I'm glad the officer he was harrassing stood up to him.

The cops should've looked at him for 2 seconds and say "I have reason to believe you drove here under the influence of alcohol". Just because he is the chief doesn't mean he can get special treatment.

@@cooldude2251The thing is, THAT'S exactly WTF the Officer was trying to tell him WITHOUT saying it on camera. "You're gonna get locked up". He's trying to tell the Chief "You came here drunk driving & the more of a scene that you cause, the more it's going to come out that this is the case". The Chief DIDN'T care at all & it leaked out that this wasn't the first time this has happened to other Officers with this. That Chief should be fired. He's on duty drunk & making decisions & there's a history of it.

I’m sure that every time a cop sees you doing even a single mph over the limit or see you jaywalk, they write you a ticket.
