My car is rattling pretty much since I haven't come to the step with sound deadening yet, so I wondered how I should do it, and this video came up the day I needed a sort of tutorial for that:) Meade, ur the best!

I think I like this project more than the rest to be honest just cause you kept all the stock equipment and you can actually still store stuff in the trunk! I love all your other builds this one is just a twist cause your systems are usually crazy and this is just clean and elegant. Fits the Lexus marque perfect.

that's awesome i didn't realize sound deadening did so much im also going to incorporate spray foam in filling a few pillars in the rear of my suv since it also has amazing sound deadening aspects and helps structuralize the car

In the future I will absolutely use sound deadener, I have heard a lot of good things about second skin, I definitely don't want to give anyone the impression that spray foam will have the same results, it worked in a pinch in my shit car, but like Steve said, in the long run it is definitely worth doing it right..

Steve, I would like to thank you for your awesome videos! Because of your videos it has inspired me through all of my builds and especially using damplifier! That stuff is amazing! I have a wagon and did the whole back half and it made a huge difference! I still have the doors hatch and headliner, but I would have never have done it if you had not shown this stuff in your builds and that it works! Again, amazing work and keep it up bro! The 5th can of "great stuff" foam really killed the rattles in my 00 subaru after i punctured the headliner in about 25 places and filled 'er up!! Give it a try!!! Everyone including your friends, mechanic, the guy doing your car inspection, etc will think you have completely lost your shit, but your roof WILL stop flexing.

the sunroof makes the roof flex so much more. just another weak point that pressure uses to try to get out. but damn, that shit worked pretty well on it.

yeah right. you are saying that there is less flex with just a few strips of second skin but when you first filmed the flex of the headliner you had the windows up and the trunk down and then when you showed the "after" of the deadner it would obviously have less to almost no flex since all of the air is escaping out of the open windows and the trunk.

iv also heard that you can use "peel'n'seal" that you can get at lowes or home depot as a cheaper alternative to name brand sound deadener. never tried it tho. im a thermal technician (insulator) so we always have extra material layin around that i always use for vibrations and rattles and whatnot

When you are using that thick dampening mat i saw that you were using a roller, i use the same mat and i found that it was a lot easier working with a hot air gun so try that out :D

I too have an IS. I see you literally cut a hole behind the passenger side rear seat. That's pretty neat. I'm attempting to remove my headliner... God is it a bitch. Props for the hard work you've done on that IS Steve.
