The membrane of the ceramic measuring is deflected by some micrometers (µm) according the pressure acting from the process side. The metallic coating on its rear side forms a capacitance with the base body of the measuring cell. The varying distance of the membrane and the base body changes the capacitance value of this capacitor and allow therewith the measurement of the membrane position and the process pressure.
