You are amazing. I cannot tell you how long I have been trying to make this stuff make sense to me. You have done what no one else could. Thanks!!!

Thanks for the informative video. I would like to point out that your example is not a gambrel roof. A gambrel roof has two slopes on each side with the upper slope at a low angle and the lower slope at a steep angle. This is more accurately described as a gable roof.

Sir, at 15:08 , how can get the value of 5? Is it 10 divide by 2?

Good day Sir, I really do appreciate the effort, work and passion you put into your work and making it enjoyable for us as well. You have helped me through allot of problems concerning my studies. How ever on this particular example I do have one question regarding the vertical forces at point H and member HC. The external 6kN force acting on point H, does that not add to the vertical components making the Tension force of HC 12kN ? Or does the entire 6kN acting on point H get absorbed by members HF, HG and continuing into the frame?

The purpose of this type of structure is to convert the support of the load to the end supports of the structure (in this case Fa and Fe). Note that when you add up all the vertical forces (up and down) they should all add up to zero.

Thank you sir you make this seem so easy and I like how you explain everything you do. My question is if you removed members CF and CG would that change any of the calculations? Would that simplify the truss calculations?
@MichelvanBiezen4 жыл бұрын
You can't remove member CF, because that member is under compression and partly holds the 6 kN load. You would also break the symmetry and balance between CF and AF.

@@MichelvanBiezen Thank you for your quick response. The reason I asked was because my garage has a truss exactly like this one but without those two members CF and CG. I was trying to calculate the stresses on my truss by following your example.

But sir, wrt to your video series: (22 of 34)Rules of Zero-Force Members( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gM1mpZCJrZnbqJ8.html ) Force in CH, CF and CG should also be zero. Kindly provide us an explanation. Thanks.
@MichelvanBiezen Жыл бұрын
Yes, the other two members are zero force members, unless a non-vertial force is applied.
