펌프 축 패킹 삽입 폭 크기 닦 맟게 삽입 후 기동 정지후 물샘 다시 추가 삽입 조이고 다시 기동 이제는 연기 남니다 이유 축 녹 울통 불통 틈새 물 축 녹 없앰 축 재 가공 맞씀니까

Thanks for this video. I had an irrigation pump repacked when the pump shop replaced the motor. I have had to tighten the packing several times now. Everytime I get it to a few drips (like in the video) it is back to a stream in a short while. I have been tightening evenly one flat at a time and now I want to be able to change the packing out in case the installer rolled one of the pieces of packing.

If you repack the pump I recommend looking at Chesterton 2212 packing. It is a nomex/Kevlar hybrid packing that breaks in fast and keeps its adjustment longer than other packings. Contact you local distributor and they can provide cut rings ready to install in your pump. chestertonrotating.chesterton.com/en-us/Products/Pages/DualPac2212.aspx

@@shep446 Will do. Made it through the end of irrigation season without bottoming out the follower. Thanks for recommending the 2212. It looks like it is the ticket.

is it normal to observe minor water leakages after replacement of mechanical packing in 7.5hp pumps?

Yes, excessive leakage will occur during break in. Run pump 15 minutes before any gland adjustment. Leakage can be reduced to drips per minute but never stopped completely. Refer to packing manufacture for recommendations how many drips per minute. Shaft size, speed, and packing material will be factors.

It shouldn't if it's been compressed properly, back of the gland packing follower and make sure you have a few drips of water coming from the seal, if you have some drips as well as smoking, I dunno what's happening sorry :)

Sajid Technologist start pump with packing gland nuts finger tight and allow pump to run for 15 minutes with more than desired leakage. Then adjust gland nuts 1 flat at a time, with 10 minutes between adjustments. Until desired drip rate is achieved.

There are many types of packing and materials. Some general guidelines I use. 100% Teflon makes poor material and is only used when required. Bellow 500F Nomex material works well. Above 500F Renee’s a black packing like graphite or carbon yarn.

@@carlloggins9297 good luck with your test. I do not have any such videos. But would recommend any US Navy training manual on the subjects. Being a veteran Gas turbine mech I can say the GSM 3&2 manual is one of the best book courses.
