I wonder if they have used the same material strength specification as the boom, as the base material is often Fe590 or higher. As is the specific welding wire and gas to use.

Ofcourse not.... besides that, no hearing or eye protection. It's a miracle they wear gloves. They dont even test for fractures/cracks in the folded areas... India is a big shit show safety and hygiene(literally) wise

I am very thankful that any crane "repair" remotely resembling that would NEVER be allowed in my wok place!!!!!!! Everyone Goes Home EVERYDAY!!!!!!!!!!

HOW DO YOU WELD A CRANE BOOM SUCCESFULLY? YOU DONT.
@HolzwurmBW
@HolzwurmBW 10 күн бұрын
In Fact, there are repair procedures, but they're not even close to what they did in this video. If it was a pretty old model, it would be much easier because in the old days there were no high strength steels involved. But the shape of the boom section and the wall thickness makes me guess that wie see a newer generation boom section made out of high strenth steel such as S960QL or stronger. In that case, this repair is complete fail, especially teh hot straightening.

Id guess its the cheapest modern chinese crane so maybe still not that special. I still wouldnt stand near it at 70% of rated capacity after that repair

It will hold till they over load it again and then they will throw more welding wire on it.

The only reason I can come up with for doing this "repair" is that they want to make it appear to be functional so it can be sold to an unsuspecting buyer.

Mig welders can do continuous welds, which is how and why they were invented. All this blobbing and stitching of welds except for tacking is neither safe, good practice or acceptable. It shows the world, that the man welding doesn't know how to use the welder and doesn't know how to weld correctly. I wouldn't want to be anywhere near that crane when it being operated for a lift.

This is a shamefull video, demonstrating how to bypass all known safety regulations for lifting live loads with defective improperly repaired equipment. This goes against all known western safety standards. After seeing this I would never ever work in India or Pakistan. Aloha.................................
